Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

it shows how useless the pinned threads are to new members. i know the search takes time to use but literally no one looks at the methods and non-methods stickies...
i've long thought there should be "required reading" when signing up. specifically, "do not do these things". there isnt, right? you joined pretty recently and i completely forgot

no requirement... can like posts as soon as my acc was registered, then later got approved without even verifying email! (later verified tho)
There was also no requirement for accuracy in the signup reason... as I mentioned many times, I've corrected the fiction but no mod even asked about the discrepancy between chat messages and signup reason... had I not corrected it, I doubt much would have happened... tho once I trusted the site won't use my info against me, I corrected the fiction.

but yeah sigh. like people always harp on noobs for breaking the rules, but wat do u expect when no one tells them the rules?! i mean obviously mod/admins don't care about this otherwise they'd...do something other than let the membership govern itself.
idk seems like a small thing so set up or rather modify an email during signup that says "these are the rules and these are not useful methods"
whatevs

i tend to think that younger folks or people in a desperate state to die asap (or impulsive people) are like this, they want to ask and have an answer because reading those threads can be really exhausting + also for the 'non-methods' i think it's because they think they could be the exception because it's their only option available
(and I might add that some threads are long and sometimes complicated and if English isn't your first language (if you're not really fluent) it can be really tricky to understand everything)

I haven't told it in much detail, but hinted at it in some places... basically, because I really wanted to be a part of this cool space, I used fiction to enter... thinking real life is too dull. I reread the fiction, adding swear words and emotional weight to make it feel more realistic, before submitting.
Eventually, I heard that moderators, not the site admin... go through these stories to approve and deny users... and since I played a counting game with a mod.. who might have read my fiction... I corrected the fiction and let the mod know. Though I did make a handful of discord connections, save my posts to disk, etc... in case of a ban, which luckily didn't occur.
I probably could have put my legitimate CTB attempt story in there, come to think of it... tho somehow never thought of that.
my signup reason is literally something like: 'well, it's been years since I'm suicidal, and when you wanna die you need access to ressources, so here I am" and they let me in
You WILL be rejected if your answer is vague, lazy, or immature.

yeah that's why i think a concise, official, one-time summary before signing up could at least curb a LOT of this behaviour. literally "don't try to OD or cut or [whatever other common misconception shortlist] because they don't work, also do not make posts asking on how to kys" (there's no actual rule against asking for sources even though people dislike it; it's just posting sources).
and re the distress factor lol:
as much as I understand such a rule for legal reasons....
they're literally saying 'if you're suicidal, you shouldn't be there', lol that's the whole point of the website
i think it was u who said you just joined for the info and games right? if you get what you need...
humans are 99% all the same, regardless of political or ethical or whatever other inclination. would be funny if it wasn't so hypocritical.
well, I first joined for the info because I was in a desperate emotional state (lol), then I interacted a bit in the Suicide Section + Game section, before only staying in the game section because I always do that in forums
the suicide section made me feel worse to be honest, I even disabled it from the options
i think some people didn't like me because i wasn't all joyful when someone was going to ctb, because i was saying things like "it's sad it had to be like this but i wish you peace' or things like that, i was called prolife multiple times because of showing a bit of empathy
lol wtf people always say that kind of thing in goodbye threads, maybe you joined at a time when it was a particularly pro-death crowd on rotation...that sucks, but glad you just ignore it.
I basically only use the "what's new" thing for ignored+profile posts now. aside from interacting w my follows i figure it's nice to reply to someone who hasn't been, esp. if new members
yeah idk, there were lots of nihilistic members that were very vocal and quite hostile towards anything remotely close to basic empathy when someone was about to take their own life

I found this digging back in my posts I haven't asked to be deleted
About stories, I came from the Tantacrul vid with a very different perception on this site. It was full of hateful incel rhetoric. Not proud of what I wrote. I made a second account before remembering the email of this one (oops) and the story then was very much real.

I guess it wasn't as vague as I thought it would be
I put multiple paragraphs, into both the fictional reason, and the legitimate reason.
The fiction involved some ex that never existed, even made it into my password in case of password logging (here is an example of how simple php password logging can be if any site admin ... really wanted to see passwords on their site)
