Hello, I live in a very gun-friendly state in the USA. I have been struggling a lot the past few months and need help. If I were to be voluntarily commited, will the state take away my firearm? It is by far the best CTB method I have at my disposal and I don't want to lose it. Has anyone in here in the US voluntarily commit themselves while owning a firearm?

As far as I know, it wouldn't with a voluntarily commitment.
But just hide it and don't let them know you own one if your worried about it

I've never been admitted but from what I've researched in the past federally it's only if you're admitted involuntarily. Each state may have their own issues with it. It does also depend on if they deem you mentally sound while you're there. If things change while you're there and they think you're capable of harming yourself or others with it then they'll have an issue.

I believe HIPPA also stops them from sharing your information with government agencies without a court order or again, if you're deemed a risk to yourself or others.
