I don't believe in any God but if he/she/it/they happen to exist, according to most religions, he will punish me and send me to a disgusting place in which I'll suffer forever.

i see myself as god so i guess the answer would be yes.

if i were to believe in a "higher being" i dont see why not, people should be forgiven. every action has a motive, a past story that lead to that action. it is up to the person to go against/learn from the past, but they shouldnt be hated in the afterlife for not seeing it.

edit: i feel i should add that i was specifically talking about wrongdoings, theft ect. as far as sexuality and other things like that are concerned it didnt even occur to me because why would it? its who you are. and honestly doesnt even make sense that god would hate you for it. isnt god suppose to love all of his children plus "he" made you that way, if it was considered "defective" couldnt he have just not?? the hatred towards people like this seems more of a personal human problem that theyre trying to disguise as religion and im not buying, never have, never will

Well if it's the Christian god then probably not. I mean for sure I won't be able to enter heaven but shit, I don't think I deserve eternity in hell fire for something I was born with and can't seem to escape. It's not like I called for a mass genocide on a group of innocent people. I don't get why everything is so black and white when it comes to religion. Also religion seems very contradicting if you think about it. Only the true believers will get into heaven yet I'm sure most who are trying to do the will of their god are partly doing it to escape going to hell. If you wanna know who the real believers are try telling them that there is no afterlife. Then watch if they'll do all the things they're supposed to do without any rewards or knowing there's no punishment if they don't.

Do you mean CTB or all the things we have done before that? I don't think we are met with judgment in this type of matter at all. I think of this quote:

"THE LOVE THAT WE WITHHOLD IS THE PAIN THAT WE CARRY LIFETIME AFTER LIFETIME."

We might feel embarrassed about our behavior ourselves so we can learn from it over time but there is no punishment or judgment by a higher being. I think that would make no sense. I think maybe a very "evil" person might have more to "heal" from in the afterlife but it will come with time and effort for that soul/spirit. We all have a lpt to learn in this "life" business and it can be hard.

Steadfast belief, regret and repentance = forgiveness. There is only one "unforgivable sin." Not believing in God. And it's only unforgivable because you have no one to repent to. You've turned your back on your creator.

THANK you for this. There is no eternal hell, that part is bullshit used to control people, which I believe started with the Catholic Church or the precursor to that. No hell exists. According to scripture, we either go to "heaven" or we die for good. Eternal life is ONLY granted to those who are saved.

That being said, I do think that almost all can be forgiven. I don't know exactly what OP means by what I've done to myself, but if it means letting myself get this bad or hurting myself, then I don't think that's enough to be condemned at all. It's not about deeds in and of themselves. If you mean something like CTB, then I can't say for sure. I think CTB is a gesture such as "I don't want life, I deny life." But I don't know. I think that, according to one's standing with "God", maybe there's still a chance to be forgiven for that.

As a practicing Catholic (and a hypocrite one at that), yes, God forgives every imaginable sin starting from Adam and Eve until the last person born on this Earth (and universe). There are few things needed before forgiveness happens. One should be repentant and genuinely feel sorry for his or her own sin. One corrects his or her action(s) and reverses the result of the sin as much as possible, which may include turning oneself to the authorities if it's a severe crime. Lastly, one has to confess their sins to a priest and follow his advice and penance. If all of these are met, then the priest will absolve the penitent.

Suicide, on the other hand, is a different matter. It's a sin that you can't confess because it's something that a person will do in the future. Confession will only work if the sins are done in the past, not present or future. However, I do believe that a person with mental illness or have some kind of depression are forgiven because of their state of mind. It's important to note that the Church hasn't declared anyone to hell, whether it be Judas, Hitler, Mao or Stalin. We don't know if there's anyone in hell, but divine or holy revelations to saints have shown that there are plenty of sinners in there, but it's not mandatory to believe in these revelations.

Yes, God to me forgives every sins. May He forgive everyone's sins as long as they feel sorry and correct their actions and be a genuinely good person starting from the day they realized that they strayed from good.

I could not give less of a shit, not to mention I do not believe there is a god, and certainly not in any capacity that has been accepted by the masses. Besides, what on earth has such an omnipotent being done to deserve the moral high ground of bestowing upon me its forgiveness, on the contrary, it should be the other way around, God should be asking ME for forgiveness (and most of us here, for that matter.)

If a creator does not want their creation to turn on them, they should do a better job at creating them to begin with.
Why wouldn't I turn my back on an entity that set me up to fail?

Also, to be clear, there is no sin in a lack of belief in something that does not exist.
