I have always wondered why people think suicide is bad and selfish? Because in my opinion, having children without making sure they will live the best possible life is more selfish than ending one's own life.

You have the right to live your life, but I believe that ending it should also be your right.

You didn't ask to be born, and the fact that you didn't choose your own life (your appearance, your geographical location, your gender, etc.) is even worse.

As someone incapable of doing anything (for many reasons), why live? I can't be happy, I can't leave this place, and everyone I love is in the same boat. So, what's the point of life if I can't enjoy it?

I believe governments should stop taking away a person's right to end their life. If someone doesn't want to, you can't force them to.

What is worse than suicide? Forcing people to endure their suffering.

i hope everyone can find their peace soon.

I think it might be because most "healthy" people assume that since there's some who made it through and would've regretted taking their own lives, things will eventually get better for everyone. They're uncomfortable with the hypothetical potential of a happy life wasted, because to them, life is precious.

Religion. Suicide is seen as a major sin in the Abrahamic faiths (Christianity, Islam, Judaisim) Other cultures have historically seen suicide as acceptable, such as the ancient Romans (e.g. Seneca, Brutus) and the Japanese (seppuku)

People think death is inherently wrong. They don't know the pain we go through. They can't even comprehend it. They don't realise the absence of pain is what we desire - they think that death is bad and so by extension suicide is bad, and that's it. They don't think about it as deeply as we do because they don't need to.

I am Cayuse, Native American, and in our culture it's a personal choice. It's sad to see people go through tough times and have no more options in life, but sometimes that's life.
If you chose to catch the bus, I chose to have empathy with you. This world is far from fair and equitable, and life even less so. I hope you find success in whatever path you choose. Happy trails and I'll se you around the bend.

I really understand, it truly is such terrible extreme cruelty how humans are forced to suffer in this existence so terrible and torturous that never should had been imposed where there is no limit as to how much one can suffer, I always suffer so much from existing in this horrific prison anti-suicide world where humans are forced to suffer for as long as possible.

Making peaceful death inaccessible with the suffering and torture of existing seen as to force and prolong no matter what is just the most dreadful, terrible crime to me, for me existence is what is bad, I'll always see existence as a mistake that just causes all this cruelty, pain and suffering all for the sake of it, I'll always see it as an abomination to suffer in this existence, for me ceasing to exist is all I could ever see as positive.

I think society learn to people that life is pain and it's "normal". Since school there are rules to accept pain and be submissive to work.
A lot of people think also that mental illness cause it but don't search why mental illness occurs. Some people just can't understand that someone have the right to decide for his/her life. Life is also describe like a "luck" but not everyone can really have a good life. Society is against so a lot of people. In my opinion.

a lot of people think that we are just taking an easy out. that our problems are inherently all solvable and we just aren't trying hard enough/willing to suffer for it. most people haven't experienced rock bottom, or lost someone dear to them in a sudden and unfair way. they haven't been through something so life-changing that it broke them, or they have but they had an actual functional support system and got to "get better". most people don't have such severe health problems as a lot of us, or the kind of mental health issues that are not "fixable" or really even effectively treatable. I think the average person's worst day is probably like... losing an older family member, or getting injured in a bad accident. maybe stuff like getting fired, or having shitty friends/a bad ex. not that those can't be really bad situations, of course, but they're common, and we generally know what to do to help after those things happen. stuff like chronic isolation and long term abuse are not "typical" experiences, and the after-effects are not always "fixable". if you know the spiders georg meme, you could use that exact format for me and drowning, lol. religion definitely has a hand in it too, though. I know I've personally seen people say things like "they lacked enough faith in god. if they just trusted in him completely, everything would have turned out fine eventually" or even a few times I've seen people imply that it's punishment for some sin they've committed which ??? I don't know how they come to that conclusion. murder is bad by the bible so then killing yourself is bad because that's murder to yourself, apparently, and you'll go to hell, supposedly.

tl;dr they just don't know and they can't know until they experience shit getting /that bad/. it's not "normal" to want to die, so they legitimately cannot picture wanting that for yourself.

i really liked your post, you summed up exactly what i've always thought. If we had no choice about coming into this world, at least we could have a choice about when we die

Aside from religious beliefs, normal brained people are programmed to believe all human life has value no matter what the circumstances. It should be up to the individual to decide if their life has any value. Good example is nursing homes. Does a bedridden, non verbal dementia patient in a diaper really have any value or meaning in their life? NO. But God forbid we allow them to end their lives before it gets this bad. I am in the US and dementia patients are not allowed death with dignity.
I could come up with so many more examples but will stop here.

It feels like a mix of personal emotions and societal morals. People who say it's bad or falsely promise it'll get better either haven't been in a situation like this or have been conditioned into that line of thinking. I think it's really unfair when people try to tell me how my life will end up going despite hardly even knowing me. I mainly just think that people haven't been in a situation that forces them to realize how unforgiving things are. This is another reason why I just never truly feel understood.

Firstly, who cares what people think about suicide? I guess I'm past such concerns anymore.

That said, most humans are hard coded with a drive for life. Life, itself, made it that way. That's why almost every religion humans have created sends the believer to some type of eternal torture for suicide. Humans are ultimately programmed to fear death, even though life is going to kill them anyway. They never question any whys behind life. They just create purposes and goals to give it meaning. When someone wants to willingly check out, it threatens their own perspective on life. It forces them to think in ways and about things they otherwise would never do.
