Been looking into ligature strangulation and hanging, and especially with the former I've noticed people saying that the exploding head feeling is bad. Why? I know it's because if I survive I might have some brain damage, but would it stop me from dying?

I think it blocks (the jugular vein i think?) which allows blood to go to ur head but it cant come back down, unlike with the caritoids where the blood going to ur head is the one blocked out. Trying strangulation overall should give u some damage and risk of strokes etc ive tried very hard probably 20+ times and got told I should go to ER and so on. Didnt but still fine so far I guess, I also read that the explodong head feeling could still kill it just would be painful and less peaceful than squeezing the caritoids.

good reply. after reading about partial hanging a lot myself i think this is why the exploding head feeling is bad. the guy that did the night night method died slowly over the course of 7 minutes (iirc) because his carotids weren't being compressed properly. partial and night night are pretty painful when you do it wrong. you just feel like you're being choked without suffocating. i wouldn't go to the hospital just bc of strangulation attempts, but there probably is risk of brain damage if you do it a bunch of times.

You get the exploding head feeling when you arent blocking the carotids properly, so you end up dying a much slower and painful death (if you decide to keep going)

It is extremely painful. You feel like there is a balloon trying to escape your skull and it might push your eyeballs out. Most people stop their attempt because a pounding headache is quite unpleasant.

So it still works but it's just more painful and slower? Do you know how much slower it would theoretically take?

If you do a fully suspended hanging and have no way to rebase your legs on earth it won't matter because you'll be dead anyways within a few minutes. Successful hangings their artery in the neck closes and they lose consciousness. In a botched one you might suffocate and it would suck for a bit but you'd die. The biggest obstacle for achieving death in anything but blasting yourself with a FMJ or shotgun is somebody finding you regardless of how long it takes or how much it sucks dying. Gun is lights out instantly, taking way too much powerful opioids will knock you out in seconds or minutes while you feel great depending on the BOA. The real only way you won't die doing a full suspended hanging is if somebody cuts you down.

IMO doing partial is like a subconscious admission that you're afraid to actually lose all control to fate. Jumping off a building, pulling a trigger, kicking the chair away, jumping in front of a train: all just all or nothing. Things like air bags and charcoal and partial in my opinion just have too many ways to back out once it's "begun."
So it still works but it's just more painful and slower? Do you know how much slower it would theoretically take?
Yeah it would still work for sure. It's not like you'll just survive hanging from your neck being suffocated for long. The difference is how long you're conscious. Closing off blood flow to the brain means lights out. Your body might kick and flail and seize long after you can't even realize what's going on but you won't care at that point. If it's botched you'll just be choking yourself and depriving yourself of air which is what the exploding head thing is. You're dying in a different and more painful manner. Still gonna be dead within minutes either way. Obviously the former more attractive.

Death is virtually certain once fully suspended but it will take alot longer and be much more painful. Approximately up to a minute more or less

A while back, I struggled with this. It was so uncomfortable, annoying, and painful until one day I found a way, and it didn't feel so bad, and I felt like I was losing consciousness
