Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Besides obvious restrictions like a criminal background or failed mental evaluation preventing purchase, why don't people just opt for the firearm method? It has the highest success rate (82.5% and practically 100% with the proper method), and other alternative methods have a high failure rate, and if they do fail, they are likely to suffer even more, like brain damage and other significant health issues post-attempt.

money, recent involuntary hospitalization stopping you from buying a gun for 5 yrs (common with sasu folks), no gun license/gun experience. also the fear and subconscious image of gore. if you've never owned a gun or shotgun before then it's pretty scary to hold one knowing you're going to kill yourself with it. even people with guns back off initially because they feel frightened. i've read stories where people put the gun to their head for hours.

You're right. Simple solution. Except I lack the guts to just buy one. Sort of close at one point. SI or maybe I'm just a coward.

Nod. I think idea vs reality is very different. Perhaps Hollywood makes it seem that a firearm is an easy way to go. But holding one (which is slightly heavy) and then firing it (quite loud to me) is quite different than portrayed on tv. Like you said survival instinct comes in. But that's just my 2 cents.

Despite what the rest of the world thinks, we are not drowning in guns over here. There are many states with restrictions on gun purchases. Also, we are a big country. The closest gun store can literally be hours away and only accessible by car (not all of us have those either). Finally, guns are not cheap. If you want anything with some power behind it, you are looking at a minimum off $300.

On the other hand, I got a $15 rope delivered to my house from Amazon, no questions asked.

Exactly. Living in a coastal state gun acquisition is not easy. We are not all in Texas, Wyoming etc.

FOR REAL. I live in texas and I went into an academy and had never bought a gun before, and all I had to do was fill out a form and have a 3-day wait period lol.

After reading the stats on success rates of CTB methods, I moved to a state that requires no permit or license for that reason. After I got here, I found this site & realized a few things. First, there are other "softer" methods that work. Then I thought about how badly things go when people think they're aiming for the right spot but miss. Also, we have to use a method that we can actually get ourselves to do. I've seen other members say the same, they bought guns only to get them home & realize their SI is just too strong with that method.

It's true. Seems simple but it's not.
Nothing is. People do it every day. Trying to take inspiration from that.

If I was living in the US,I would walk in like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator Part 1 and buy everything in the shop,

I'd go out guns blazing!

Tis a good scene,@Mrs. T-800

Firearm was my obvious choice, I'm surprised others in the US would consider methods before it.

But I was recently in a mental hospital, "voluntarily", so it's not really an option for me anymore. I am so incredibly dumb :(
