In fantasy usually the good guys win, in religion too, and in myths too.

Yet in reality the bad guys usually get the upper hand.

Maybe not the extremely evil cartoonishly evil dark lord.
But definitely those who are the most selfish and ruthless. They usually are the ones to be in powerful and privileged positions. Not just that their bloodlines often seen to be blessed lasting centuries.

Not all of them but many. Almost as if some evil entitity rules the world and rewards the most cunning ruthless and psychopathic in many instances.

Not all, yes, sometimes those guys are so evil they get ousted. But as long as you stay moderately evil you will be pretty mich be extremely successful in this modern world.

While trying to be as nice and good dill rarely be rewarded, atleast in this life.

Worst of all those psychos usually are happy people, and rarely commit suicide.

They just keep on winning in life, usually.

You ever actually read those Greek myths? The heroes (who stricly speaking are the result of a god and a human, not one who does "heroic" acts as we define the word now) killed and raped almost indiscriminately but eventually managed to kill a monster and thus became one of the good guys and became kings (or a god in one famous case)

Hell even before that Gilgamesh was a tyrant that did whatever he wanted and had to go on a quest, find friendship, lose it all and then he came back to become a great king

I think Beowulf was a cunt too or maybe I am confusing it with the movie (which I actually liked)

Evil wins because evil people have no empathy or sympathy, they can walk all over people and take advantage of others to make it to the top. Evil people are usually quite lonely and not happy though, especially if they have nobody to boost their ego. Kindness is a weakness, sometimes. It just lets you get walked over and taken advantage of.

I show no kindness to obviously evil people.

I agree. All of my abusers are walking free and are doing quite well in life, leaving me to succumb as a result of their demeanour towards me. This world is a far twisted place beyond imaginable. I have always tried to be kind to everyone, but it has resulted in nothing but disaster for me.

Well yeah that's your answer, it's fiction (wherever you consider any theology fact or fiction) and because it is fiction we want good to triumph over evil and the good guys to win

Or at least most people want that, there are all kinds of stories. I enjoy some of them as long as they're well written (and some that are not because of nostalgia) but I also like downer stories where the protagonists don't win or they achieve pyrrhic victories

And yes I despise powerful psychopaths and as they're usually irredeemable I hope they get seriously sick or die young so they can't be effectively exerting their power.

I do agree that evil people seem to live more successfully and I envy them, however I'm too empathetic person to cause harm without any apologies.
But even though, I hold kind people in high regards, especially those who can thrive in such world. I'd rather do that than give egoists any significance and value.

I'm not the best person myself, I would never claim to be perfect, but some things simply go too far.

Perhaps the author was fed up with a life where evil triumphs over good and decide to create an alternate fictional reality where good people are rewarded for good deeds and get to live happily ever after.

I'm not the best person myself, I would never claim to be perfect, but some things simply go too far.

And nobody is perfect, that's alright, me neither. I have my fair share of wrongdoings. But some just won't admit it and that's frustrating, especially when they consider themselves to be "good" people. I can accept any person as long as they aware of themselves.

"Evil" people are super selfish, and understand the power of image, reputation, material possessions, career, attractiveness, charm & etc. These are the only things that really matter to society. As long as they don't do anything that will put them in prison, there are no consequences for their evil actions, and they love it. As long as they take care of their business, and have the power to do so, they can do what ever they want behind the scenes and continue to prosper all why believing they are angels, and believing their prosperity is proof, because they are extremely shallow, and they believe God is just as shallow as they are. At this point, I don't believe there is a God.

Because most people who are labelled "good" are just incapable of wrongdoing or acting as a psychopath. They have no choice but to be good. So when evil comes along they have nothing to set against it because they don't have the strength to confront such a threat. They are not capable of hurting someone else. So, evil remains unchecked until it encounters people who are moral but also unbelievably vicious and willing to fight. These people are rare.

Yeah- I agree- this world rewards people who are callous and ruthless. Still- so does the animal kingdom by and large... I guess you get the odd symbiotic relationship but it's mostly dog eat dog out there too.

It's not to say I'm some outstanding citizen. I've been very selfish in my life and I've sometimes acted very in-politely- although quite often out of akwardness/shyness- although this can come across as being rude and aloof. Still- I think overall, I am quite empathetic and polite- and- you just get walked all over.

I'm glad I haven't brought children into the world because they likely would have ended up the same. Sometimes I wonder if empathy and manners actually hold people back in such a ruthless, pretentious age.

Personally, I can't wait to be shot of this place. Leave it to the Narcissists and Socio/Psychopaths to battle it out.
