NSFW Why do you think were the Epstein clients interested to have sex with underaged girls?

I know this question sounds naive.
They are pedophiles and that's it. I think the biggest stigmatization of them is actually the right option. But applied to the Epstein clients this sadly won't happen.

The age of the victims ranged from 11 to 17 in most cases. I am fine with calling them pedophiles. But isn't the interest in teenager around the age 11-14 called hebephilia and the age between 15-19 ephebophilia? I had to look it up but I saw commentators mentioning that. Some of them use this as an excuse. I could imagine fucking Michael Tracy saying that. His takes on Epstein are disgusting.

I am asking this question because I wonder what the interest of these elite pedophiles were. You also see that philantropists who want to be seen as altruistic were part of it. Maybe many of them are narcisstists who do it for their ego. Maybe they enjoy to excert power over others. And excerting it over underaged women is the goldstandard for these assholes. I wonder whether they actively want to destroy lives or whether that's just the byproduct. I wonder whether they enjoy to hurt vulnerable people. Or whether it is actually their sexual preference. Or they do it because its the ultimate taboo. Or maybe a mix of all of these explanations.

I remember reading somewhere that "powerful" people feel the most powerful when they find themselves freely doing the most immoral things on earth. Apparently, the fact they are free to do whatever the fuck they want at any moment kind of fuels their egotrips.

It's hard to understand why the worst people do such things... It's even harder to understand why so many people who wouldn't do such things themselves jump to defend the worst people all too often. IF people didn't permit such bad behavior, it could be stamped out a lot quicker. The victims of these kinds of crimes know all too well they will mostly not be believed, or they will be questioned, further embarrassed by a society that is largely indifferent, and even in the rare instances the victims are believed and perpetrators brought to "justice" the power often just get mere slaps on the wrist.

I wish, though, that people would get at least the known psychology right on these people... not for their sake, but for the sake of society trying to understand and identify perpetrators of these kinds of crimes.

Sex with underage kids should always be bad when the perpetrator is of legal age. When both are underage it becomes problematic unless you are talking about a significant age gap where you can clearly say the older child should know better than the younger one. It's also a little tricky when an 18 year old is dating a 16 year old, and most folks wouldn't bat an eye at that if things are above board because at that age both could still be in high school...

But the well full adults and children... there's no way to parse that in a good way, though many will try. Some rampant against "protecting minors" also balk whenever someone tries to raise the age in consent. We in the US like to talk about other countries... but search the US and you might be surprised how low the age of consent actually is... and further, how young you can legally marry a minor IF you get their parents to sign... and there are instances of wealthy older men paying parents for permission to marry their young daughter, creating a perverse scenario where it is perfectly legal to be a pedophile in that scenario.

Back to terminology for a second... I'm over-generalizing a bit, but there are generally three types of people who like to abuse kids:

1. Adults who like sex with children because they look and behave like children. These are true pedophiles, because they actively seek the youngest and those who appear young. Famously, the true pedophile will reject a child once they start looking/behaving more like an adult. So, a 13 year old is often "too old" for the true pedophile as he will seek younger prey and discard the older children.

2. Adults who like sex with children because they look and behave closer to adults. These I don't know the official name for. They are still abusing children, but they don't like really young kids that look like kids. This type of abuser actually would likely out a true pedophile with anger, and this is why you find some people raging against "pedophiles" who themselves are having sex with young kids... because in their mind they see the others as preying on innocence and youth while they are just courting mature young girls. That's where that sad phrase comes from, their defense of their horrible activities.

3. Adults who will not have sex with a minor at all, but like to find young kids and groom them for adulthood. This is a sneaky one because these people will tell you they've never done anything wrong at all, because they always wait for the child to become an adult... but, they make sure they are around grooming the kids so that when they kid is finally of age it feels "natural" to escalate the relationship. This used to be really commonly accepted, frankly, back when I was a kid in the 1970s... you would routinely see young child actors on TV and people interviewing them and cheering when they were "legal" which didn't even try to sugar coat how those adults had been keeping an eye on those kids and just waiting for them to come of age.

There's no defense for any of the categories I outlined above... but I do think it's important to remember that not all horrible people are horrible in the same way... and knowing these kinds of things can help identify them. Sadly, too much of #2 and #3 is supported or hand-waved in our society. Outrage seems to be focused on #1, which the other two types are happy to exploit so you look the other way while they do their business.

Ofc some things were redacted but the kids and the sex stuff on his island was pretty horrific.

Ofc that employee was getting off his chest and moslt likely unlike himself after posting that but he couldn't live with the guilt.

The organizers (and by now everyone knows who they are) purposely wanted to cultivate various sorts of horrifying child rape for their selfish political interests. Mostly so as to create assurances about how the people they place into power will behave but also to get influential stars to support their appalling politics. Some of the participating rapists might have been manipulated to go along with it while drunk and/or drugged but most of them probably just liked to feel a part of the "elite" club where the powerful let themselves go, ethically speaking, because black and white morals are just for the inferior plebs. The abusers who weren't already horrible monsters were probably gradually perverted over time each visit. It turns out it's not that hard to turn these oligarchs and other famous people into monsters. I wonder what people like Hilary Clinton did at the parties. Seems it was mostly men but for all we know women were also among the predators. That makes sense once you realize it's mostly about some sort of perverted ego trip.

I remember seeing that, I remember a detail about a swedish kid or something, stuck with me since I saw it, horrific. Then again, it was from 4chan so the account could have just been fiction, but obviously similar things did occur. Rich people are scary.
