Why do people on here gatekeep or feel guilt when giving CTB information?

How am I overcomplicated my SN CTB when I am just having things beside me that help ease my mind and possibly aid in giving comfort?

What I meant is that I highly doubt that having an oxygen mask beside you will determine whether you can go through with it. If you're not ready to do it, I doubt it will help. I may be wrong.

What I see is that a lot of people keep researching methods endlessly, or come up with their own unique ideas because they desperately want to avoid pain. They don't realise that they're chasing an illusion. Death is scary and painful, and killing oneself is extremely hard. Modifying a well-tested method won't solve this problem and can even make things worse.

There are already methods that are well-tested, effective, and proven to work. When it comes to SN, there is already a fairly standard protocol. If you want to end it, that's all you need. No more, no less.

I just don't see what's wrong with that.

Thinking about it again, this is what's wrong with it: you don't know how using an oxygen mask will interfere with the effects of SN.

I think you said it yourself that EMTs give oxygen when someone calls an ambulance. Why would that be? Perhaps they do it to save the person's life. Giving yourself oxygen while using SN could potentially cause you to suffer organ damage and still survive. I don't know whether this is true, but that's exactly why I wouldn't do it.

If I were to use SN, I would just follow the standard protocol. But don't do it (pun intended)!

Also it is not guaranteed that the person asking is sound of mind in the moment or a minor.
Despite the nature of this site I don't feel comfortable openly instructing people on how to ctb and it's not because I'm "brainwashed by society". Besides, with enough research this site has already all you need.
Sorry but I don't wanna be responsible for someone's death or coeherce them, especially it they are a kid or going through a solvable crisis.

I know that the blood cells are fucked and it doesn't matter what amount of oxygen you breath in it won't effect your cells.

I read that somewhere here but don't remember where. Something about how the cells CANNOT carry oxygen so it doesn't matter how much oxygen you put in your lungs.

I am ready to CTB. I am ONLY afraid of air hunger.

I need to find the post again or more information on how hypoxia effects the body on a cellular level. Doing my own medical research on this and not just on the website, so I can be 100%.

So it goes without saying that I still need to do more research and I don't recommend it.

But to say "doesn't work" without even knowing anything about the subject is kind of stupid.

I'm pro choice and think it is bad to an extent. It's bad that anyone has come to that place. I read about someone who went to one of the suicide clinics because he couldn't get the funding that would have made his life livable. It's tragic.

I don't think most people find it horrible because economy. It's horrible for most because losing loved ones is horrible, or often is. Grief is horrible. I found myself questioning everything that led up to her death. Suicide, especially if a surprise, is going to bring a lot more doubt into things.

Arbitrarily modifying proven methods brings more risks than benefits, and doesn't solve the underlying problem, which is the fact that death is painful and scary. I believe our minds will always come up with something to be scared of, whether it's fear of air hunger, fear of pain, fear of heights, or simply fear of the unknown. This is how SI works.

You seemed very uninformed of how SN works on a cellular level and are giving advice on things you don't know about.

You say I'm arbitrarily modifying when I clearly stated I would do my own medically research and come to a conclusion.

However with the information I already have read on here, I'm almost certain it's okay.

But obviously I need more concrete research and information. Because I don't blindly trust what others say here :) and I think that should be a lesson to all. To do your own research outside of this site as well.

I never talked about venders. I think that should be gatekept.

It was about people withholding harm reduction information.

I'm synthesizing my own SN. I mean I know of the sources but this is just how I want to go about things.

See i still dont agree most people on here break the law just by discussing suicide on here. Some laws are so strict imagine the catastrophe that would come with a data breach, i just think there should be less access to guests and definitely a more in depth sign up

Yeah but I rather feel a little less secure than have actual minors on here. It's a more terrifying thought having literal children on here.

It comes down to the fact that children need to be protected more than adults do.

Yeah you're right but all we can do now is be vigilant try keep it in mind and be aware of who we're speaking to and how to report suspicious accounts to mods

Like a few people on this thread said before, we're ' gatekeeping ' because in most countries it's a crime to not report it to authorities if you know someone wants to take their life, give advice/tips to someone who wants to take their life because it's seen as assisted suïcide and can make people and up in jail

The only way to avoid getting minors to sign up is that we ask everyone for their ID .
Staff works very hard to filter them out, but we're not here 24/7, keep in mind that we're just like anyone else here.
