Drink whatever you think tastes good, and take it easy.
Beer and wine are the most popular, but often an acquired taste. I'd probably recommend a few different kinds of beer.
Lager would be the more popular and "beginner friendly", but try Ale and Stout, too.

Once again, take it easy. Spending half a night disoriented and puking in a ditch, is not a great experience, and the day after can be even worse. Your tolerance will be low. Don't get more than 3-5 cans to start with.
Alternating with food and non-alcoholic drinks helps significantly.

I would suggest trying a weak beer with a good fruity flavor that you like at first and then gradually try something stronger if you want but don't overdo it. First time I ever drank I had hard root beer and that was really good.

I think the drinking age should be 18 everywhere in my personal opinion. Unfortunately where I live, it's 21 so I'm glad I'm much older than that. It really is like an old classmate I had liked to say, "If you can die for your country at 18, you should be old enough to drink a beer" and the guy who said this ended up joining the military. We were in school back in 2010-2011. 2011 was the year I graduated and I agree with his argument completely.

I started with medium-ABV wine and beer.
Once again, take it easy.
I agree. Remember that alcohol is a drug. Don't drink to stupefy yourself, do it if you like the flavour and the sensation. Be morigerate, don't develop an addiction and try not to get drunk. Be sure it isn't incompatible with medications and your general health. Also, take notice that alcohol consumption has been linked to serious health issues like brain damage and cancer, and scientists have been saying there's always a risk no matter the quantity. Be careful.
