I cannot find any old threads. I am besides myself sobbing. I cannot believe this site is basically just a "support group" now, no actual information. I am not bashing the admin, I understand the decision was terrible to make. But holy shit. The one thing that made me feel safe is now gone. I will 100% be gone by February now.

I was actually wondering if it might be a good idea to start a little support/coping thread for dealing with the recent changes/situation? I'm sure it's causing quite some distress for many here, me included.

Okay so I'm a firm believer that anyone under the age of 18 should not be here. Period. If the law says you're an adult we should be allowed here and have freedom of speech. This doesn't surprise me at all though gotta protect gov property

That's very true, but this website will be unrecognizable in some time if these rules stay unfortunately. People will leave and it will gradually be replaced by normies. Again this isn't admin's fault, they're in an impossible situation here. I'm just devastated

I agree. Time will tell how things will change around here. The open discussion of methods is very important and what makes this forum unique.

Yeah but the how is what I found soothing personally, can't explain why though. Maybe it's that little kid in me that loved to absorb new information, which definitely works better when I am writing about it. (over just reading)

this is irrelevant given we already don't host any methods here *but* there's a super fine line between who can rationally make informed decisions and who can't. an adult in a druken state should prolly not view the method posts. okay, enough people already accidentally commit suicide when drunk, and, what a joke it is to put "accidentally" next to "suicide". those were truly intended. despite being true-heartedly regretted. so adulthood means nothing. while you really can't say a 16 y/o have no capacity to understand suicidality and suicide, and make rational decisions. I was that kid. and the one thing I never changed my mind about, is wishing I was successful then. at least not believe sniffing glue would kill me. smh.

so it prolly isn't in the written rules per se, but when you request to create an account, you have to tick "I don't have intellectual disability".

definitely possible. that's the answer. cuz when you look at the definition of ID, it's about maths skills. and you don't need much maths to know your life sucks to the core and won't get better. okay not really but close enough. so, people with ID typically need more time to process conceptual information, learn new skills, put in more effort to communicate seamlessly, and have longer reaction time to things. I seen a dude on YT who has ID and said the cleverest thing (I think) ever: "we should do voting like how lottery is run in corner stores." that's me paraphrasing it. some may never learn to use the microwave, *while* being able to read and write and go to college. of course it doesn't speak for everyone. if someone knows ID a bit better please add to this.

autism and ID doesn't seem to have a strong link. sometimes it co-occurs. and society at large has only recently came to understand that too, too, too many autistics are not what they assume to be like.

and should I be subjected to the overwhelming amount of ableism people with ID do, so vehement that what I experience is fucking nothing, I would really not want to exist in this world.

Edit: to know what ID is we all need to ask ourselves how "intellect" is assessed, aka. how IQ is defined. and that's super psuedoscientific (I'm saying this as a neuro major), *and* goddamn racist. also very hugely fallacious in a neuro/philosophical perspective. this doesn't deny the fact that people currently diagnosed as ID do face huge barriers in life if unassisted.

ID doesn't mean "ignorant". *nor* "gullible". but I'd say many are gullible by love. any act that resembles it. when they been denied that all their lives. the ID kids who get trafficked after they accepted candy from a stranger. and like, kids without ID do that too. I actually understand that some may really get encouraged by motherfuckers who are saying encouraging shit anyways. hardcore pro-deathers, that is. especially if they seem supportive of that person in general. and really, anyone can fall into that.

This is not anything towards you, just adding to conversation. I am extremely glad the archive is there and understand that the likely other option would be to close completely, however part of coping and being here was adding to the conversation. Even giving people warnings if the methods were not ideal (not to encourage the person, I feel like I need to make this very clear) but to avoid a person going through pain and trauma unnecessarily. I feel that element kept a lot ofpeople safe during their dark times. As I believe I've said before I really hope this is a very temporary measure while the heat from f26ers dies down.
