When I’m making Sodium Nitrite, there is a reaction that produces ammonia gas and I don’t know how I’m going to get away with this.

I don't even know how bad ammonia gas smells. I know I have to do the reaction outside but I'm worried if my neighbours will smell it or if it will be smelled from inside the house.

I'll also have to have a hot plate + an extension cord to do it away from the house.

If I get caught in the act, I'm fucked.

It's just so suspicious. I figured I'd do it in the middle of the night when my parents are gone for the weekend.

But I have siblings so it's not 100% reliable.

It's just a waiting game, trying to find the most ideal time to do this.

There might be a time where I am left completely alone for a night, it's extremely unlikely. I might just have to wait for this night.

no guarantees that the result of homemade chemical reaction will be pure sn that's safe to ingest (for example getting liver/kidney failure/lead poisoning instead of intended effect) or effective at all. i emphasize homemade part because you need laboratory equipment, some experience and at least technical grade reactants to get something that's supposed to be made.

i think ammonia can be bubbled through vinegar to convert it into ammonium acetate. or through any acid it can react with. dunno what reaction you refer to. if it's something pyrolitic with high temps involved bubbling ammonia trough acidic solution to neutralize it may be not possible without laboratory equipment.

It stinks like decomposed urine in public toilets. At elevated concentrations its smell becomes sharp and irritating. The whole idea of making your own nitrite salt seems barely justified, considering the existence of alternative poisonous chemical substances that 1) should be much easier to produce, 2) are more potent, 3) cause LOC >10 times faster.

I plan to test it with testing strips. And I plan to put a lot of work into making it pure such recrystallizing many times (If I can remember correctly from the video I watched, this makes it more pure).

I have 2 years time and a lot of money I can spend. So I can buy some lab equipment. I have to research more, as I just skimmed through how to make it.

I looked through the whole process and the only thing troubling for me was the ammonia gas.

The reaction I'm referring to is sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and calcium ammonium nitrate. That's to make sodium nitrate which then I will synthesis to sodium nitrite. I have to also make calcium sulfite which will be used with the sodium nitrate to make the sodium nitrite.

I will test the sodium nitrate before making the sodium nitrite (aquarium test strips can test for nitrate and nitrite). I can't test the calcium sulfite because there's no test for it but I don't think this matters.

I only need to hit 95% purity.

I can buy anything from Amazon. I can't buy suspicious chemicals from random websites tho… I can buy some things from stores too.

Okay but how much would the smell be distributed outside?

Until someone tells me what the other chemicals are I'm stuck with this one. I don't think it's that bad of a chemical to CTB with. But I'll try and look into other chemicals, it's just hard to find. This one is easy to find and there's tutorials on YouTube and it's a staple on this website with lots of information on how to CTB safely with it.

I'm also concerned of the safety of first responders finding my body or family. I don't want anyone to get harmed.

2007 ppeh edition literally have a recipe for cyanides. i don't think that sn is a chemical worth to bother with expensive lab equipment.

chloroform or chloral hydrate. there's a ton of 'recipes' on the internet. dunno whether these are superior to sn but they're narcotics and will make you pass out really quick.

A lot of the stuff is just using stuff I already have big mason jars, glass Pyrex dish.

I don't need anything crazy like a vacuum machine or magnetic stirring thing.

I just need to buy a small toaster oven, buy a hot plate. And then a couple little things.

It's just hard for me to not get caught with making chemicals in my back yard but since I have 2 years time, I have a lot of time to find the right time.
