In the Earthsea series, everything has a nane in the "Old Tongue" (dragon language) and you have to know an object's true name in the Old Tongue to be able to do magic with it. Also, most people have a true name and if you speak someone's true name, their magic no longer works on you.

They also refer to their world ending as "When the last word will be spoken" which sounds cool.

I'm a sucker for magic/power systems in general where the ability a character gets is determined by their personality or previous experiences.

For example in Madoka Magica, one character (Sayaka)'s healing magic comes from her desire/wish to heal the boy she loved. In one of the spinoffs of the series, another character (Oriko) gains future sight as a result of her desire to know her purpose in the grand scheme of life.

In another series I like known as Aotu World (definitely way more niche/underrated than the former), it's kind of similar? Every character goes into a tournament and their ability is determined based on who they are as people/their past experiences. One character gets ice-related powers due to her coming from an ice planet. Some other characters' abilities are just straight up enhanced weapons they use to either channel existing powers or to improve upon already-existing skills. It's great.
