I'm planning to complete and CTB fairly soon and was wondering if there are any guides or particular advice on what should be done with extra rope at the tie-off point/past the noose knot, presuming that the rope is too long that do not involve cutting the rope. Cutting the rope would be incredibly inconvenient for me and I'm wondering if any alternate options exist so that I can CTB regardless of the unneeded length. Does anyone have any links or resources that deal with this topic-- or failing that could perhaps provide their own personal experience on this sort of thing? Assume I'm using a tree as the anchor.

You could just wrap the extra around the branch your using and then tie the noose. It's what I did.

Will it really hold? Do you just throw it over a couple times or is there any special technique to it? If so thank you very much, I had thought of this but wasn't particularly sure and needed some reassurance.

Why would cutting it be inconvenient?

Well as long a the tree branch is thick enough and the rope is thick enough, it should all work out just fine.

I'd rather not be fumbling with a knife and a lighter at the time of decision and would just rather deal it with some other less destructive way.

Just let if hang. No reason to cut it. If you need to change location suddenly, it might be too short.

Isn't there a concern of there then being too much slack as a result of that?
