• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I understand it's common for those left behind after a suicide to experience a range of intense emotions and find themselves asking questions that can no longer be answered. So I'm wondering, what sorts of things is a person in such a situation likely to wish they could know?

Can't speak from personal experience, but I would imagine "why" is at the top of the list along with "is there something more I could have done". Dealing with the inevitable sadness/guilt that will be left behind is no doubt one of the challenges to deciding a plan to CTB that extends beyond just choosing a method.

I can't imagine a better answer to OP's questions than this reply right here.
To add a few additional questions that no one has said yet loved ones might also think,
"How could I have gotten to know Person X better? Could we have spent more time together?"
"Was leaving painful? What was it like and did they feel all alone?"
"How can I possibly move on without person X in my life? What would person X would have wanted with all the things they left behind?"
"What did person X really think of me? Was there anything they wanted from me? What did they dream of and what kind of things brought them pain? What secrets may person X have had or kept to themselves?"
"Did person X really want this or did they make a big mistake? Did they really consider the consequences? How could they do something like this? How could they leave us like this?"

What could I have done different

I knew one parent who lost their child who was almost 30 to CTB. I think they developed alcoholism because of it and it was bothering them years later, drinking every night and going on and on about it

I feel like if people write notes, then those left behind will not be left with as many unanswered questions and it may give them some closure. I feel like I would say things in a note like, this is what I wanted and try to explain why I have chosen to ctb.

Aha, that's actually partly what I"m asking, so I can anticipate what sorts of specific questions to (try to) answer.
