Dangerous? Scary? Creepy?
Smart glasses have integrated cameras. Usually a light should be on when filming but there are ways around that. There are guidelines online how to circumvent that the light indicates that it films.

In my country smart glasses are a hot topic. Pick-up artists talk to women and then upload the video online, Some women were harrassed they were called sluts. However, the pick-up artist didn't ask for consent when uploading the video filming her at a swimming pool. And she wasn't aware that she was filmed when he asked her out.

Smart glasses also film the people who wear them. And sometimes it seems like the owners are not fully aware of that. European newspapers talked to staff members of companies in Kenya where the videos are used for training purposes. And the staff said they see a lot of people on the toilet, naked, when they have sex, managing their bank account etc. While seemingly not being aware that other people monitor the content.

I am not sure how to feel about that. I think there is a need for strong regulation. Personally, I thought more of using such glasses in college to cheat. Actually, I would not do that. I would not like to outsource my skills to smart glasses and be dependent on it. It feels dystopian to me. I am not the main target for predators but it could also affect me. I only rarely leave my apartment though. I would feel like a creep if I wore such glasses. Everyone who saw me would be careful around me. What a weird thought.

It is probably a dream of many people to film people in swimming baths or sauna. I avoid such places anyway. I don't like to be seen in public in underwear/swimming suits. I also don't like to see so many people who are half-naked. I could imagine people enjoy looking at the bodies of others. But I easily feel like a voyeur if I enjoyed that too much. And it makes me insecure about how I am perceived by others. At least in the case of smart glasses it sometimes seem to backfire. Sometimes even crimes were recorded by smart glasses. I wonder whether the companies that use the footage for training need to report that or not.

On the whole, I think smart glasses are probably a net negative for society, and benefits they do have are relatively small and confined to the owners, while coming with massive social costs distributed across all members of society without regard to whether they bought the glasses. I question how much of newer consumer tech at this point is actually progress, I certainly enjoy my devices but were consumer computers 5 years ago really so slow that we need to keep speeding them up forever, burning ever more resources?

Creepy. Although covertly recording someone in public is legal where I live, I think it's very creepy to do so just for social media purposes, especially when the video shows an identifiable person in a certain light. Like what you wrote: pick-up artists (men) trying to get with women.

Security camera recordings stay private and often stored for a limited time. Vehicle dashcams are for insurance purposes, although you'll find a lot of the recordings on the internet. And recording someone with your smartphone allows the people in frame to walk away if they don't want to be recorded. But smart glasses... they make it easier to record people without their knowledge even in private areas such as the bathroom or private domiciles. Videos on the internet will exist basically forever.

I don't like it.

Their very weird. I cant see any reason for them to exist, i wouldn't be against just banning them outright.
