What do you feel about suicide memes/jokes now that you're here?

When I was only passively suicidal (ie before I got into this site) I used to find the suicide memes real funny and cathartic. But now that I'm fully commited to ctb I just don't find them amusing or relatable anymore.

It depends. If a meme is blatantly judgmental and/or dismissive of suicide, then I probably won't find any humor in it.

I have pretty much no limits on humor. Guess you could call it a coping mechanism.

I never heard passively suicidal, interesting concept...................maybe I was slow suicidal mode....................but the more I see the suicide, I laugh louder.

In general i don't find suicide based memes ir jokes to be very funny.
And it's not because of some moralistic or ethical stance on my part as i actually tend to appreciate dark humour. I just happen to find that most of these jokes/memes aren't as funny as other memes related to other things.
Still, should i see one suicidd related meme that i find funny i will, undoubtly, laugh (really loud as usual).

I can understand how some memes can be funny especially as a defense mechanism, but ultimately I do not enjoy viewing them. Primarily because it is often people who do not know the experiences of self-harm, depression, and suicide as personally and it seems that they are mocking my inability to overcome them or oversimplifying the real suffering people face as a result.

Unless it has no originality or is patronising or demeaning suicide then I don't mind and will find most funny with the little capability of humour I have left... I think you have to see the humour in it as if it was life. Who wants to go to the ground more sad than we already were?
That's why I respect the hell out of the people with the balls to use fringe suicide methods like gluing their hands to their head while decapitating themselves with wire.

I don't find suicide jokes or memes funny. I can laugh about the site, like the Ten Things thread, and I can usually laugh about the ridiculousness of awful things when I'm in the middle of them, it takes away their power, but I had a boyfriend who unexpectedly ctb'd decades ago and was quite traumatized by it, so I've never found suicide a funny subject. I don't have a problem with those who can laugh about it, but I don't personally find it humorous.

I find them both funny and comforting.

I also enjoy memes or jokes about my illness ME/CFS.

Before I fell ill I was a very social person. I always had a smile on my lips. Today I still like to joke, play silly games and fool around and I usually chose to show my smiling face to the world. I love to laugh. That part of me hasn't been erased by suffering.

I think irony (and particularly self-irony) as well as laughing at life in general make it all just a little more bearable.

I think it depends on the meme or joke, some I find pretty amusing, as I tend to have *trench* humour at times like these, I do think if you can't laugh then why bother!
I understand some may find some offensive, I find offensive those that are shared by people who clearly have no fucking clue, of what this world is like,yet they can apparently relate to it?! Nah, fuck off!

Humour. What a can of worms. I don't tend to look at them so I wouldn't really know. All depends on the person reading it as much as the one telling it. Who's it aimed at and why do they think it's funny. I'm available for birthdays, weddings and especially funerals
