I use a combo of laptop (Dell Vostro 3450 from 2011) and phone (Samsung Galaxy S8, from 2017-2018). I've at times used it on an HP machine (Elitedesk 800 from 2013) and on the Acer Nitro v15 (2024) in a Live OS (before it stopped working).

There are *many* savefiles from here on those machines, some threads saved no longer exist on the site (but exist locally).

I've used it on uni wifi too!
And unlike the time when I used tor once there years ago (I learnt to use bridges and mobile data for Tor), no e-mails about the usage were received.

mmm, my guess is the university isn't concerned so long as the sites accessed don't cause direct harm (eg 'certain adult sites grossing some students out' or 'tor presenting a legal risk', or 'people reading actively dangerous stuff' etc).

Since this forum has recovery and venting resources, it's probably somehow able to fly under the radar. If asked about it (in Year 12 I was asked about it coz the logo was visible), I can explain that it's just browsing mental health resources.
