What are things you've been told in childhood that weren't true/had to unlearn?

That suicide is wrong and should always be prevented, and that ppl that attempt are to ill too understand better. I reckon that's the case of 100% of us though.

"The doctor will know if you're sick."

It's sad, but half the time they don't even believe your symptoms.

This! I second this! And also "The doctor always knows best". Yeah, I'm sure he did when he caused me severe trauma...

1. We have the one and only true religion (Jehovah's Witness)
2. God will destroy the wicked and make the earth a paradise very, very, soon
3. It's not worth it to make plans for "this system of things" (see #2 above)
4. The Catholic Church is completely wicked and totally false (I'm Catholic now)
5. Anyone who is not a Jehovah's Witness is "worldly" and dangerous (see #2 above again)

I sincerely believed these things until I was about 35 years old, which was about 20 years ago. I am still digging out of the mess it made of my mind. It's hard to explain.

I'm glad you got out of that atleast. I've heard Jehovas is pretty horrible tbh. Cults like that should be illegal tbh.
