Weird. I guess it must be quite stressful having to inflict pain and discomfort on frightened or nervous patients.

No they don't have access. They mainly prescribe antibiotics and mainstream painkillers. They can't get the hard stuff.

Maybe it's because they're aware that they scam people. Doctors also have high suicide rate.

Dentists are suicidal because people are waking up to the fact that they don't need to pay them a fucking fortune to be happy

I didn't know they were known for this, but I think it's the nature of the job, it can be very stressful.

I've read that once. I don't really understand that either. I know that psychiatrists and psychologists have higher suicide rates. But dentists...??? I mean if you are a surgeon you probably have killed someone. No question it is a difficult job. But I would quit after I made a lot of money and try to live with that instead.

Edit: I have looked up the reasons and they say it is the enormous stress. But in general doctors have the highest suicide rates.

maybe it is more related to people generally going into medical jobs? I remember hearing that people who pursue medical careers are more likely to be suicidal, so maybe it's from generally being in the medical field.

I'm pretty sure that paramedics & firefighters have to deal with a lot more stress than dentists. Also, any job can be extremely stressful if you're unappreciated/abused.

People who choose medical workfields are also more likely to have a lot of empathy/be highly sensitive to other peoples suffering, and thereby more prone to depression.

In my experience, that's only true of nurses :))

I think many of them become desensitized after a while.

Psychiatrists? They don't DO anything! How is that stressful?

Doctors and dentists are known to have a higher suicide rate than normal. To become a doctor or dentist you have to be a certain type of person. A perfectionist and a masochist. Then there is all the pressure and stress of the job and the reality that it's not as glamorous as they make it out to be and they were brainwashed by their Asian family to become a doctor so that they could be both a retirement package and an old people's carer.

Dentists also have easy access to nitrous oxide and the mechanisms necessary to deliver it lethally. While other suicidal people may struggle with finding an accessible and desirable method, dentists often don't have that hurdle to overcome.

I wonder what method they tend to use, doctors too.
