Not to mention time consuming. If you want to go relatively quickly then it's not ideal. If you don't mind suffering for a couple of weeks... I imagine most suicidal people feel they have suffered enough and rather die quickly and as close to pain-free as possible.

This is extremely gruesome, I saw my grandma passed this way. She had a terminal illness and multiple organs failure and it still took her a week. The way that old and severely ill people have to use this method just to get some peace is a testament of how backwards the society is when it comes to the concept of euthanasia. I was so angry at the time that I had so many arguments with the hospital staff.
