There are songs that make me feel nostalgic, like "
Love is War", and others that break my heart every time I hear them, like "
Leia", but my favorite is definitely "Alien Alien," because it perfectly captures many phases and facets of love, as well as how difficult it is to process. They couldn't have chosen a better character to express this than an alien girl governed by logic who is fascinated by the immense complexity of that feeling, since love
is something unidentified, a wonder to this universe, because it managed to break through the barrier of the very space.
The song really resonates with me, too, because on the few occasions I've fallen in love, I feel exactly the same way—I just feel like I'm going crazy and being consumed by fascination and despair.
My absolute favorite Vocaloid is Gumi—maybe that's a bit of an old-school choice, but she's the one I grew most attached to because of how she was portrayed in the MVs. Now that I think about it, a lot of gumi's most popular songs used to be about
romance,
comedy, or were strangely
deconstructive, given the character's cheerful image in fanart.
I'd like to add one more thing! These are my favorite Vocaloid composers! Personally, I love
Wowaka, the mastermind behind "Rolling Girl" and "World's End Dancehall," and
Yuyoyuppe, who was one of the artists who best tapped into Luka's potential. Interestingly, I first discovered him through his work in a Touhou doujin circle, but I completely fell in love with the soul he poured into his songs and how he was able to give such depth to a character solely through his lyrics.
