Ive read and heard that antidepressants can make suicidal thoughts worse when first prescribed, could they be used to assist in suicide and overcome SI?

Not sure about the newer drugs causing sleepiness. But the older TCA (tricyclic antidepressants) do cause sleepiness and can help.
In fact, Amitriptyline can even be used to CTB. Do a search for DDMA cocktail. It's a doctor developed/approved method available in U.S. states that have assisted suicide.
Yes, they do make it worst. They also numb your emotions as well so it is easier. When I was starting antidepressants, I felt like I had to die right away but at that time I didn't have proper resources to ctb.

It's hit and miss as they will make some people more suicidal but for others they will increase si and improve things like appetite pleasure etc. I suppose there's nothing to lose by taking them.
i'm the opposite.
i'll take antidepressants for awhile and then quit cold turkey because that's
when my suicidal thoughts are the most extreme.
that's when i become the closest to ctb, but obviously haven't succeeded yet.
I started on Lexapro and it was horrible for me. It made my suicidal thoughts much worse. My doctor switched me to Zoloft and eventually Cymbalta, but I weaned myself off each. While they sort of numbed me emotionally, I thought they prevented me from thinking clearly among other side effects. I haven't taken any of my prescribed meds in probably 6 months.
