US based parcel forwarding

Looking at ordering from a US website and delivery is only an option via a forwarding service as I'm in the UK.

Can anyone recommend one/explain how it works? Ive never used one before.

I don't know any reliable ones at present as it's been a long while since I researched them , but they are just companies that accept the package for you, and then remail it to your address for a fee, often not a cheap one. It's not more private despite what anyone claims. If the police or whoever want to track the package they will track it to the forwarder who isn't going to prison for you and will give up the information in a split second. It just adds more complication/cost/steps. The only way they are really useful is if whoever you are shopping with doesn't ship to your country and it's the only way to get the thing where you are.
