We've always been so dependent on the convenience of electricity that we don't even think about it to take precautions. It took my stupid ass almost fifteen minutes to figure out that everyone in town was without power. We have such low survival instincts that everyone was stuck inside in the dark. Anyways, such a cewl experience!

Wow, two hours is really long! We had one recently, too, when a line in the ground got a partial short. Luckily they could turn it back on, but it took them two days of digging to find it, during which the power was off for safety. Another day to fix it, and two weeks until they re-sealed the road surface.

If you want a thriller about this, I recommend the book "Blackout". It's really crazy how fast things can go downhill with power, and how little protection there is for our infrastructure. Recently, some overland-line-tower were destroyed in German which also lead to a large outage.
