I am a dude who is suicidal and mentally not balanced. In the beginning, I used to live in a big home I was fine then due to some issues we became poor like we lost the home and everything and I had to live in a sht house for most of my prime to save up money. I was trying to make money from 2015 and only in 2024 things started to turn around for the better and I started to make some money. What I noticed is that whenever I make some I feel this calm and rush inside my body that is like a coolant or drinking a cool glass of water in a hot day. Whenever I tried to build something with people they have been dishonest as they thought they can take advantage of me. Apart from that calm of hitting a new target in total ownership, I feel nothing, no feelings of love and general happiness, but I do feel all the negative emotions. So, my verdict is that if you are a suicidal person money might be the only real and potent drug there is to keep you alive and save u or bring some real value to your life. All other religious or whatever bs is all wrong if you feel that money doesn't bring happiness then feel free to give poverty a go.

For me even with decent money in the bank i have the constant anxiety of losing it. What causes a self fulfilling profecy by getting depressed and unable to function properly. I wish i could just numb my thoughts and keep my mind of it

I make more than I need. I'm not wealthy. Middle class. But I don't spend it all. I have rent plus groceries. The rest sits around. I'd put it in a retirement account but I know I won't be here at 65.

I understand people who have money troubles, but it really isn't important. Money buys convenience and convenience doesn't make you happy. I'd trade every dollar I have and be poor in exchange for not being anxious and lonely and miserable.

for me I just want a steady income. Just work one place, steady income and insurance. I had it and took it for granted.
Now I'm miserable and always will be.
I didn't ever feel the need to be rich. Just comfortable.

for me money can buy happiness,(happiness through reducing suffering)
but it's a different kind of happiness—one that's more about reducing suffering than increasing happiness
If I had money, I'd have the confidence to say no to things I don't want to do, more freedom to make my own choices, and the ability to choose healthier ways to cope when life gets difficult. It could also bring some short-term pleasure.
maybe I see it this way because I've spent so much of my life in a poor environment with very limited resources. money can't solve every problem, but it can prevent many new ones from arising.

There are MANY things money can't buy. Attractiveness, social skills, a clean criminal/psychiatric record, freedom from mental illness, freedom from disability, real friends, a family you get along with, the list goes on. Are their people whose only problems are financial? Of course. But there are many others who would still have serious issues even if they had enough money to last the rest of their lives.

Money won't fix my incurable syndrome, nor will it fix the lifelong trauma my mother, family and society have given me. I am already living in poverty as it is as well. Money can't fix everything.

It does bring happiness especially if you're having serious financial problems.. it's doesn't in the existential sense when you don't have major money problems.. too much money and time is a thing..

Anyways.. it absolutely makes people happy especially if you're an average person..

It doesn't mean anything if you're a millionaires many times over..

Big Money commands power and privilege. The ones wielding Power manipulate through force, fear and a chain of command covertly under Big Money (mainly Institutions). Individuals with sizable fortunes also wield great power and also attract those seeking it. That include The Beautiful and just about everyone else. Many Rich, Powerful, males in particular, choose physically beautiful females as their companions meeting societal ideals in ways such as classical, modern, or stunning beauty looks. Rarely will love form or last if the basis is solely money. However true happiness and fulfillment is achievable thru Trust, Honor, Respect, mixed with Compassion, Humility and a bit of Laughter. Those are the basic elements making up enduring relationships. Thankfully even with little money happiness and fulfillment is achievable. With an Open Mind, and a Open Heart...Sponsor Peace, Love, Hope and Charity.

I tend to think money doesn't always bring happiness but, the lack of it can be a major stressor in life. I also wonder just how many of those who say: 'Money doesn't bring happiness' have experienced very serious financial difficulty. While they may not be lying in saying that money didn't bring them happiness- have they truly experienced the opposite? How can they really know what it's like to be that stressed if they've always been reaaonably comfortable?

No, money isn't a magic eraser and I'd still have problems with it. However, money equals freedom that would make life a whole lot more tolerable.
I wouldn't feel stuck with an alcoholic abusive husband and the freedom could at least bring some peace.

If I werent hetero I'd probably love to go with ya. Love just being outdoors, the feel, the smell in nature and among happy people....ahhhh, I can almost feel it...wow. Doing that would seperate me from myself and the miseriy at least for awhile. Seriously, 1.5 months, that's a long time.... Ok, wish u have the time of your life...I'll have no choice but to live it out vicariously in a hetero fashion of course...🤔😀, Either way please report back and let us know how much you enjoyed yourself.

people always misinterpret that quote as meaning all money never brings any form of happiness. when in reality its supposed to refer to extreme greed, like billionaires buying hundreds of mega yachts to feel something. not regular average working men trying to pay bills

It doesn't solve things but the absence of it worsens things, if I lost everything and went homeless I might genuinely somehow feel even worse than I already do

money can always get you things that make you feel excited or whatever but anyone that's gotten anything they wanted know the thrill runs off pretty quickly. no, i don't think money brings true happiness. maybe temporary excitement but nothing genuine. in fact i find it can also cause more problems which definitely outweighs the small amount of joy you get from having it.

I made an absurd amount of money for my age, but it didn't help. There is nothing I can buy with money that would make me happy. It's nice to have a bed to sleep in, food on the table, but that's about it. I ended up spending all my savings on travel and drugs, which was a good time, but I still felt suicidal and hollow. If I wanted to I could still go to the same niche and make tons of money but I can't be bothered, because there's nothing I want. I already tried everything. Already had everything. There's nothing to be desired. Before I at least had some hope, like what if buying this thing, or going here, or doing this, would make me happy? I don't have that hope left. If anything, money made me realize that no amount of material riches, no amount of unique experiences could heal me.

That's when I had my first suicide attempt.

Of course, if you are in a country with poor healthcare, and poor health is your primary issue, then money could indeed be the key to a happy life. Or if you're living paycheck to paycheck, always worrying. But an *excess* of money is unlikely to be healing, I think.

Horace, Satires, 1:61

Still, a good many people misled by foolish desire
Say: 'There's never enough, you're only what you own.'
What can one say to that? Let such people be wretched,
Since that's what they wish: like the rich Athenian miser
Who used to hold the voice of the crowd in contempt:
'They hiss at me, that crew, but once I'm home I applaud
Myself, as I contemplate all the riches in my chests.'

Tantalus, thirsty, strains towards water that flees his lips –
Why do you mock him? Alter the name and the same tale
Is told of you: covetously sleeping on money-bags

Piled around, forced to protect them like sacred objects,
And take pleasure in them as if they were only paintings.
Don't you know the value of money, what end it serves?
Buy bread, cabbages, a pint of wine: and to that list add
What human nature itself hurts to go without.

Does it give you pleasure to lie awake half dead of fright,
Terrified night and day of thieves or fire or slaves who rob
You of what you have, and run away? I'd always wish
To be poorest of the poor when it comes to such blessings.

Money is best used to facilitate the bonding of us with other people <3. Money can be used to take us to a fancy restaurant in Paris, all by ourselves. It can also take us to a local cafe in our own city, and allow us to connect with people we can have the good chance to keep running into, and bond deeper with <3.

One who is everywhere is nowhere. Those who travel all the time find that they have many places to stay, but no friendships.

—Seneca. Letter 2 of Letters on Ethics to Lucilius
Having secure social bonds and feeling like we are valued and have things to work on and specific differences and changes to make in people and the world around us, is something that can go deprived by even the most luxurious of goods, yet it can still be truly aided with the tools of money as well ♥.

Money is a tool. It can maintain the same distance we have from our needs, distance us further from our needs, but it can also be used to bring us closer to what we truly need as well. It is possible to use money to bring us closer to spaces where people and purpose and love and care are more accessible, even if it cannot directly buy those things. And those things can happen even with far less money than may be expected as well.

There are things that cannot be bought with money. And it is possible to stray further from those things—things which can add real, carnal meaning to our lives, people, emotions, meaningful life experiences, courses to flow our acts and seeking along—in the acquiring and spending of money. And it is also possible to use money as a tool to better prepare us for fostering the development, healing, and care for our bodies and minds, that can assist nudging us evermore towards those things that cannot be simply bought <3. I mean human connection; people we feel care. I mean purpose; things we do that we feel matter—which is often things that we find inherent meaning in, such as doing things that directly benefit people, or things that we just love to do, and see inherent awe in. For an artist, musician, or poet, this could mean expressing in their beloved art form. And it could be anything, really. Any colour you like.
