I hate working with a passion, it's unnatural, and I reject it. I reject the current work model and work as a whole. Working 8+ hours a day, for 5+ days a week for 40+ years of your life with only 2 weeks of vacation time per year, if you even have the privilege of vacation time. Just absolutely ridiculous and I reject it.

I also find it ridiculous that WE (workers) are expected to put in a 2 week notice before quitting but jobs can fire without notice.

I think maybe a 4 day work week would work a lot better. There have been studies about 4 day work week but im ignorant to them. I haven't read much about them but from my overall understanding, the results were pretty positive.

Thoughts on work? Do you hate it? Like it? Think there needs to be changes in the work system?

Yeah, we should have at most 15 hour workweeks by now

And your work should be under your control, not wageslavery in a corporate cult where you have no free speech half your waking life

I was in a lyft driven by a guy from Africa. He said he's saving up to go back. Life's better back home, because working 6 days/week is no life. Sure, you can maybe buy more stuff, but is pointless stuff worth your most limited resource — time?

I actually think work is very natural (not to say that all natural things are good). What isn't natural is work that serves no purpose that you only execute because that's how you have to survive. Work should be action taken to contribute towards and better your community. Hunting game for food, building houses, even things like conducting rituals or telling stories for social cohesion are all valid work that fulfills a purpose and in a well adjusted society you get out what you put in.

Personally, I long for that kind of work. Ironically, all the most useful work pays garbage, and there's no recognition. Something got seriously misconfigured somewhere.

As Sexyincel puts it, not having control over work is a major problem. It disconnects and alienates us from our own labor.

Of course, that doesn't mean every single person will still enjoy work, but, again, in a well balanced system, it'd adjust. Not everyone needs to work, not that many hours, we've been more than efficient enough for decades at least, I suspect we've been more than efficient enough all along, actually. But the dominance narrative warps everything and turns everything into a winner take all, so here we are.

I'm anti-work and anti-capitalism. In my opinion, work is modern-day slavery. I hate how people have to work for a living just to survive. I hate the expectation that people have to "earn" a living and pay to exist on a planet that we had no say or consent in being on. I hate the fact that existence costs money.

Working shitty stressful and boring jobs, is what creates most of the sickness and unhappiness in the world.

People say, you can find your dream job and it won't feel like work... yeah sure... you really think 8 billion people are all going to get their dream job? Who will work all of those horrible jobs that need to get done? Rampant consumerism and greed is why most of these horrible jobs exist, and we're not getting rid of that broken system any time soon. There will always be billions of unhappy people, working soul destroying jobs. It's actually heartbreaking to even look at some of these people. I even see people working their dream job, who are not happy because of stress pressure and long hours. So even a great job doesn't necessarily prevent you from being impacted by these factors.

To me it's definitely a motivating factor for getting out of this game at a relatively young age... it's a rigged and broken game.

I hate working too but my current job keeps me happy because the tasks are simple enough and even though I'm not making much of a difference, people still pat me on the back and praise me for helping them. It's tough to say if I'd want to do this for the rest of my life or not since it doesn't pay all that well (though the benefits are nice). Also as I said before, it technically gives me free exercise which has been helping to improve my life in other ways.

Unfortunately I am probably going to mess it all up because I happened to gain a crush on one of my coworkers. This isn't even the first time it's happened either. My old job at a fast food restaurant also felt good to do even if the work itself was tough but I was able to bear it to see the smiling face of the one I was attracted to.

I guess if I could choose I'd rather just be paid to sit at home and do nothing, which I basically was before I got this current job. Thanks to the California government I got a small sum of money every month just for staying home and watching over my disabled sister. Too bad that "job" was still too tough for me to handle on her worst days.

A lot of it depends on what you do.
I don't have the "dream job" that I want, I work in one of the most toxic fields available in the modern day.
Work is just something I do to get the bills paid. A necessary evil, if you will.

I agree it's so unnatural. What frustrates me the most is the culture and social expectation around sacrificing your entire life to your job.

Like if you admit to not wanting to do meaningless mental/physical labour for some random rich guy you're "lazy" and need to grow up.
And don't get me started when people are all, "You don't like it? Well nobody does! That's life!"
…. So they AGREE that the system sucks and we all hate it? They're just so far indoctrinated that they can't comprehend doing anything else? Cool.

It's all so backwards and ridiculous when you put 2 seconds of thought into it but the average person isn't willing to think. I think the system is way too far gone to fix at this point.
