Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I'm thinking of trying to make some friends here since this site has a quite nice quality in the fact that people are generally mature and we can talk about how much we may want to die or how much life sucks freely as opposed to pmuch anywhere else.
But on the other hand... Maybe, just maybe making connections with people who may or may not disappear at any point is not a good idea and might suck if it happens... Hmmm much to think about
For people who have been here a long time what are your experiences/thoughts?

It's a tough choice.
There are wonderful people here, and you're right it's amazing to be able to talk with them openly and honestly about things you couldn't with others.

Like anything else, it's important to be careful about your own safety and keep being aware that not everyone is what they say they are. There have been instances where nefarious actors have used people's vulnerability for bad purposes.

So please always keep that in mind!

I've made friends here. Some of them I've met, and visited. Some I've gotten close to. Their struggles are hard to know, the more you know them as people... people, not usernames, and people you care about.

You must be prepared that they could go silent. Maybe they'll tell you goodbye. Maybe they'll just stop responding and you'll never know.

Some may ask you to keep them virtual company in their last moments.

If you can find peace inside yourself when someone you like takes their final bow, and be at ease that their suffering has ended...and to accept their choice with grace... grateful for whatever time you had together, then you could consider being friends.

If their going may have an impact on you, and not a positive one, please consider your own mental health first before opening yourself up to added hurt.

Not sure if this helps.
I'm sorry you're here.
But this community can be good and helpful.
It has to me anyway.

Woah meeting someone irl from here must feel surreal, some very unique circumstances at play here.

Yeah seeing you put it that way does make me build an image for how that would look like damn. Also serves as a reminder for how people that like me outside this place may feel in the scenario where I ctb

It was definitely helpful and I really appreciated it
See your message is exactly what I mean about here. It's a tragic place yet the people here give it a a sense of warmth and beauty, even with its somber tones that it's carrying. I'll take my time to think about things thank you

I'd love to meet people from here IRL. Only problem is I'd be doxxing myself by definition.

I'd given up on having friends a long time ago. Once you get to a point in one of those journeys where you never quite fit in, never belong, and the friends you have had always abandon you and leave you grieving as hard as if someone had died eventually, like its inevitable, you do get to a point where you just can't let people in again whether you want to or not. Very isolating. But then I came here. And even then, when I feel warm and comforted because I can relate more than anywhere else in my life, I can still end up feeling so isolated. Because I read people's posts, and comment on them, being too much of a coward to make my own. What if noone replied if I made my own? What if I'm just THAT boring?
In the end, I got brave enough to make 3 friends. We have never met in real life. They live in different countries. But I count them as real friends. I can reach out, they can reach out, and I always feel a connection. At the same time there have been people here that have gone and I was so affected I had to take a break. I have grieved for them. But I am still pro choice, and I respect their need to go. I still feel honoured that I knew a part of them while I could. And I wouldn't go back and unknow them. And I will never regret finding the rare friends that I did. Love you all ❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜

p.s.There's a walkie talkie app I found that has complete anonymity. Could be useful for anyone who wants to talk to people in real time but doesn't want to potentially get them in trouble if they are gone one day.
