My therapist has seen me really down again the last few weeks. She knows I won't try to kill myself because I get bad panic attacks whenever I try to do anything now because of PTSD from past attempts. She's still suggesting I go to the hospital to see if anyone has anymore suggestions on treatments for me. I'm not sure what to do here. Maybe they could help me this time, but I don't want them to put me on a 72 hour hold, cause with my arfid I won't up eating at all during my stay

If you're not at risk of killing yourself I think the hospital is a bad idea, especially as a way to find out about more treatments. Their job is to keep people alive not help them get better, it serves it's purpose but I don't see that helping in your case. Instead I would see if there are any rehab places near you that have mental health specific programs or at least are not 12 step and treat both mental health and addiction. Additionally assuming you've tried a variety of meds that aren't working and have been in therapy a while it might be worth it to look into TMS therapy. These are things that have helped me. There are lots of resources out there to try some might work some might not, I'm currently trying to see if I can get a service dog for my PTSD as it has been a lifelong struggle and other treatments while helping have not been enough. Money is the main barrier to a lot of treatments (in the US at least) so if that is not an issue for you it opens the options up even more.

Yeah I agree, don't go unless you're at risk of hurting yourself/killing yourself. It's not worth the medical trauma. I don't really see why it would be necessary anyway to go when you can just research options without a hospital bill :p

The problem is that I live in a community with absolutely no resources other than the one hospital in the almost 1.5million km territory. There's no hospital bill because I don't live in the US, but I'd have to travel to a different province (like a different state but for Canada) for any other treatment. I've tried it before, but it didn't help.

But yeah, I decided to not go to the hospital to not cause me more trauma

Thank you for the advice on looking for future treatments, though. The last treatment center I was in wasn't mental health specific, and dealt with substance issues too, so that might've been a reason they couldn't help me. I'll look into TMS therapy, it sounds interesting

I get living far from resources, I had to travel out of state for my treatments. TMS can be completely life changing, another one is ketamine assisted therapy (don't know about the legality in Canada), and I've had a lot of success with IFS or parts work therapy so looking into that could be worthwhile too. I hope you find something that works! It's really tough to be in a spot where you've already tried so much and it's not been enough, hang in there - as I keep telling myself something has to work eventually.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it, and I'll look into those types of therapy!

I've gone to the hospital. I think it's different if you're a voluntary patient, but it was horrible for me. If you want more PTSD, sure, go for it!

(Keep in mind that I live in the US, and mental hospitals vary heavily in quality. One of my friends, who's been to a few hospitals, said that in most hospitals, they let you nap, so I think mine was a particularly bad experience. They're usually quite transphobic, though)
