I don't know about you but it seems like I'm perpetually in orbit around my life. I have a bad habit of floating out to such a degree that all I can see are the calamity of mistakes that I've left behind me and a bleak future ahead. Today, as a means to improve myself, I'm going to focus on the small things. I'm gonig to try to stay closer to the ground, if only for a day.
What are my plans for the day? Well I have a shopping list. I've been putting my groceries off for about a week and I'm down to eggs and noodles. Don't get me wrong, I love eggs and noodles, but I do need to get something more. When I shop, I like to have enough for 1-2 weeks at least. My shopping list is smoked fish, couscous, a frozen pizza, green beans, mushrooms, bean sprouts, tofu, skyr, yazoo, olives and a jar of chopped chilis. This will make about a weeks worth of meals with lots of potential to stretch. I typically make fish and couscous for 2 meals, a big stir fry with the veg, some soy sauce, vinegar, chilis and cumin. I eat it on rice. Lastly, I've been craving pizza and the protein from the cheese is good for me. I can stretch this meal list with the olives by making a pasta dish with stock, olives, sundried tomatoes and milk. Maybe some cheese. When I have nothing left, I can make some instant noodles with eggs and frozen peas, which is surprisingly tasty and is pretty nutritious.
What else do I need to do today? Well I need to get bioethanol. I have a camp stove of swedish make and I have been loosely planning on homelessness/camping on the isle of Arran in Scotland. I had some ordered but as it turns out, they won't post from the mainland UK to Northern Ireland because reasons. I emailed a company down south to see if they'll transport up north but I'll check the local hardware store today.
Lastly I have some waterproof trousers that are stuck in the post office because my mother won't let me put a note on the door telling them to leave my packages there. So they default to the post office and I have to go get them. It isn't a big deal but it's just annoying.
Additional extras to my day will be fill out university forms and potentially take advantage of some free gambling promos that I was sent via email. It's a fools errand but I'm good with resolve in that regard.
That's it. Small things. If I complete these tasks by the end of my day, I will try to take some comfort in that.
What small things do you hope to accomplish?
