Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

It seems silly and maybe hopeless. It's just wishful thinking. But if in the year 2045, science advanced enough to develop artificial general intelligence and suddenly, like a genie in a bottle, all the solutions were suddenly available to you...wouldn't that change things?

There are so many people here suffering from chronic illness with worsening conditions. But what if 2045 came and suddenly you could reverse the clock? You could heal the body.

"I've had worsening tinnitus for 20 years...I can't sleep. Can't function. Lost my career. Lost my family. Life isn't worth living anymore."

You go to the machine, you ask to be healed. It does research. Performs an operation. Removes the tinnitus. Restores your body. Look you're 20 again. You feel that quiet sense of calm and serenity you haven't felt since you were a child.

"I've been bipolar since I was 7 and go between complete suicidal horror and ecstasy. I can't bear it anymore."

The AGI examines you, explores you, tinkers a bit with your body, and suddenly you find yourself in equilibrium. You feel anger and sadness and happiness but within a range that's tolerable. You feel peace for the first time in a long time.

"I developed a traumatic brain injury after a car accident in 2007. I lost my job. Lost my wife and custody of two kids. I spend my days wandering the streets as a homeless vagabond. I'm high on cocaine right now. I just want to die already."

The AGI examines you, begins healing your brain with a technology you don't understand. It won't give you back your former life, but suddenly you can think with clarity. It takes a month but you don't experience any withdrawals. You feel fresh. Like a butterfly, wings still wet from the cocoon. Your soul feels baptized. You breathe what feels like your first breath in a long time.

"I lost my son four years ago. No therapy, no religion, and no drug has taken away the pain. I can't move on from this. And I don't want to forget the pain. I can never forgive myself for not being there for him."

The AGI can't resurrect the dead. But it guides you, helps you, tinkers with your brain, but not with your soul. Helps you reach an understanding where you understand and accept the loss, but you let it go (as all things must go). You move forward, never forgetting your son, but not letting the sins of the past haunt you eternal.

I don't know if that'll happen. Maybe not ever. Maybe in our lifetimes.

I know it's stupid and silly to build your life on something that nobody understands or knows.

But it's a promising thought.

Sure, technological progress could turn out to be benevolent. Maybe this is more likely than dystopian scenarios, even. Not sure I want to stick around to find out.

Consider what a 0.001% probability of a nearly infinite amount of suffering would imply in absolute terms when it comes to a risk analysis.
