Hi members of this forum!

I've created this thread as a place for us considering our selfs as Christians. The purpose with this thread is to help each other to overcome our CTB thoughts.
Do you have any good Bible verses or prayers to share? Do you have any testimonials where you or anybody you know have been helped by the touch of God?

I would really like to be helped by the Lord because I know that it's possible. I just need to find the right way to meet Him.

It would also be good if you mention in your message if you would like to be contacted by PM from fellow Christians.

Please be free to share your thoughts, ideas, prayers, testimonials on this forum or PM me if you want.

May the Lord bless you and keep you!

This is weird, and kinda pervertedly disgusting:

"Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever."

I don't like the general martyrdom of Christianity, in the sense that god is basically your sweet sacrifice to maintain precious life, when on mainstream nobody doesn't seem to give a shit about animal lives or rights.

I'm sad this thread hasn't had any interactions. I believe there is a higher being but am starting to look at different religions that fit with my values and beliefs. I hope the quiet is caused by Christmas and that this will attract more attention soon.

1 kings 19:4-6
while he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, Lord," he said. "Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors." Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat." He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

This is my favorite Bible verse and I really like the way God sends an angel down to comfort Elijah's hopelessness and suicidality. I'm sure there's many ways God has tried to aid us in out recovery process that we may have missed

1 Kings 17:12-14
"As surely as the Lord your God lives," she replied, "I don't have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die." Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.'

I also really like this one since the widow is really desperate and hard working but she doesn't want to provide food for Elijah since she will run out of food for her and her child. Only when she places faith in the lord she is able to overcome her food shortage and revive her son who dies. Both of them may have died if they didn't aid each other then. You can apply this to ctb since it may look good and our desperation may lead us to it but by living for Jesus we might be able to overcome these obstacles

One thing that could help is to read the Bible from front to back while also ignoring everything you've ever been taught about it. Churches, devotions, they tell us what to think of the Bible instead of encouraging us to develop our own understanding of what is written. This might help you determine if you actually believe in it or not. Another idea could be to look up online what pastors turned atheists say about why they stopped believing. There are many of them.

Could also start reading about near death experiences. NDERF.org is a great website for that. See if they tend to line up with any religion.

After my studies I left Christianity. Amongst many reasons, 1st Samuel 15:3 the supposed god uses a prophet to command Israel to kill an entire nation of women, children, and babies. It literally specifies all that and more. It's justification is they are pagans and if they are allowed to become adults they'll become pagan too. It is quite impossible to be all loving and forgiving and kill babies because their parents have the wrong religion.

With near death experiences it's rare for them to be hell like. But it does happen. When it does happen anyone who asks for help receives help. Without any discrimination for what religion, if any religion was practiced in their life.

Most of Christianity is practiced through denominations. This can be a high hurdle for some.

There are some useful web sites to help people learn more without having to go to a denominational church.

Here is one with some free resources videos, ebooks, articles, and an extensive blog archive.

Maybe others could post links they have found helpful.

That's good! Keep continuing reading the Word! Do you feel anything yet when studying? Kind of private, but did you start from the very first start with the Old Testament?

I think it's very good you felt something, not to minimize. But remember the Old Testament can be some really heavy reading. Many people find it can be a bit boring sometimes - my self included. Please continue reading the Old Testament if you like to. But if you getting bored and a bit fed up, consider to read the New Testament instead. That's pretty common to get stuck in the Old Testament and after that quit reading the Bible. Just don't give up!

I'm a Christian here! I recently gave a testimony at my church, talking about my depression and how I ultimately became Christian, and how my faith has helped me. I sugar-coated it a bit of course (can't straight up tell people I'm still suicidal) but I was honest about how I still deal with mental health issues and accepting Jesus hasn't solved all my problems, but instead gives me great hope to lean on when times are bad. A number of people approached me after and said they appreciated my testimony, and that they've also dealt with mental health problems and depression, even people I wouldn't have guessed ever experienced that.

woah~ that's really neat! :) I hope it connects you to a greater extent with your church! ^_^

frankly, I've been on this site for a long time, and I didn't know this thread was a thing until I saw your reply! xD

best of luck! :3 @HereWeGo! is right about the New Testament being more interesting tho~ :) Genesis is fun for lore tho! :3 but the 2nd half of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy have very few stories and can be really boring~ >_<
I'd recommend starting with the Gospels first~ :) Personally, I blew through the New Testament but have been stuck in 1st Chronicles for a while now! >_<

Bumping.

There are, but Christians don't get much love from here, so many might be scared to respond~ :) I'm friends with 2 others on this site, and 1 of them has seen this but never replied~

I'm all to tired to read all of these documents. What is it about? Can you please explain just briefly?

Yes, statistically there would be a bunch of Christians here. But we Christians shouldn't be scared and afraid of our love of Jesus. Remember:
Mark: 8:38: "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."

Btw. How do you know a friend of yours seen this thread but never replied? Did he/she tell you about this thread?

hehe~ very true! :3 We need to make sure to act like good Christians too, so that we may not put shame to God's name! >:3 There's too many people who are Christians but don't act like it, and it's sad too~ :(

I'd rather not say on the second part tho because I don't have permission~ :)

Hi @Abaddon and very welcome to SaSu and the Christian Thread!!

I really feel you. It seems I'm in the same kind of situation as you are. I really need His love and presence right now. I think I'm doing a lots of stupid stuffs instead of study the Holy Bible and to being grateful for what God have been given to me in life. But it feels like I'm starting to loose the struggle, I almost have been given up. I am about to CTB soon. I know that God really don't want me to, I know that God never gives up on us. But where is He when I am needing Him? I feel it's so hard to reach Him.
If I may ask? Do you feel His presence and love or are you also feeling that He is far away from you?
