I probably won't be able to dress up for Halloween... which is killing me because I couldn't due to illness for many years before, and I was really really hoping I'd be better enough. Oh well. Anyway...

This thread is a little support group for people like me—who love Halloween and/or spooky stuff, and are sad that they don't have anything to do on the day itself.

Whether it's due to disability, isolation, mental struggles, or anything else (even if you "just can't bring yourself to do anything this year"), you are accepted here.

For now, this will be a bit of a countdown to Halloween, I guess, with support for people who might struggle mentally as it nears arrival. Then, this will still be open once it arrives.

Do whatever you want here! Vent about what you wished you could do, talk about past Halloweens, ask about everyone's dream costume, draw, give movie/song recommendations, even roleplay as if this is all a big Halloween party with all of us invited.

Just a goofy thread for lonely, spooky people ❤️ :')

Me first:
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I even had a Halloween themed birthday party as a kid since I'm an October baby. It's going to hurt seeing my friends have fun on the 31st while I'm stuck suffering. Maybe I'll watch a movie. Hell, we could plan a movie premier where we watch a movie at the same time and chat about it on this thread or something.

3 days... :')

Sounds like fun, I had a Halloween tradition of watching a horror movie with my sister and a friend but now since we are all at college we can't do it. I'm planning on buying Halloween candy and watching the Texas Chainsaw franchise :).

Fellow solo Halloween enjoyer here. It's my own fault because I could be at a friend's wedding but I just couldn't face it.

I will try to find some horrors I haven't seen that don't look like trash and maybe drink a beer or three.

I've never seen the Texas Chainsaw franchise, but I've heard it's good! Sorry that college is disrupting the flow of tradition for yall 🫂

I'm picky about my horror movies even though I grew up as on horror 🙃 and I haven't only seen good horror either! I watched almost the entire Final Destination franchise for the shits and giggles. I used to rank the gore by how realistic it was. As... a child. Fun times

Kind of an odd pick but I've always liked candy corn, when I used to go trick or treating in middle school I could always convince anyone I went with to give me any they got lol. Smarties are a close second (but mainly because of that trick you can do with them that made you look like you were smoking, remember doing it all the time). How about you?

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T THINK CANDY CORN AND SMARTIES ARE GROSS!!!

Uh, as for me, I'm not the most picky. I don't like nuts that much, but give me a Mounds or some Smarties and I'll go ham. Or give me like. Gummies. Any gummies at all. I love gummies.......

While not necessarily horror (at least I don't think so, it's not really scary), I think The Twilight Zone has a pretty spooky Halloween vibe to it. I've been having a lot fun watching that late at night, especially since it's been storming here lately.

I will probably be handing out candy alone if I bother buying any. I might not even bother and just leave my light off so that people don't come and bother me.

Might watch a japanese horror along the lines of Ring and/or some creepy David Lynch. I second or third or whatever the Twilight Zone suggestion. Definitely a show with creepy Halloween potential.

I've always wanted to celebrate Halloween but I was raised as a bullshit Jehovah's Witness so no holidays or birthdays. Now I yearn to experience the who shebang at least once but it seems like Halloween has been dying? Or at least that's what I've been seeing online.

I don't have anything to do as always. I wish I had a costume, some candy, and some friends who would delighted to celebrate with me but I don't. I think all I will do is watch some horror movies...

Can't go wrong with a good scary movie tbh 🫂 Halloween does seem to be changing for the worse unfortunately but I hold out hope it'll get a resurgence. Culture recycles, and its Hallofuckingween so I can't imagine it'll fully die

I love Halloween! I won't celebrate it this year because all my friends are broke and so am I lol. I watched Saw X last night and am planning to watch a lot more scary movies. It's been years since I last saw any Saw movie, but that one was good. Not the best, but I liked the plot twists.

I'm also doing a Halloween photoshoot for my porn page. I'm going to be the sexiest devil ever, haha!

Perfect thread for me. I was so depressed last year I couldn't even gather the will to go outside this year will probably be the same. The fact I'm not excited for Halloween is really fucking with me mentally because it's one of my favorite holidays/used to be one of my favorite holidays. I'm going to try and suck it up though and maybe watch a bunch of movies and eat candy. I don't have anyone to go out with but I want to make the day a little less drab for myself. No costume either but if I was to dress up I'd be slenderman cause it's a costume I've wanted to do for a while.

Hey, maybe both of us will manage next year. In the meantine, candy and movies seens to be most people's plan! Also I had my costume semi-planned too, so I get it.

I think brokeness is at least contributing to my lack of a Halloween, as well. I don't have so many friends to choose from, in part because I just don't but also because some of the few friends I have don't live in my area; but the 1-2 left around here are all in the same place I am when I ask them about plans: "I don't know, maybe I'll watch a movie..." No one even says "GO to a movie" anymore, because that costs money. What they mean is they will look for something scary to watch online.

I used to love dressing up and going to Halloween parties (friends' or at local bars or music venues when they were free/very cheap), but first the pandemic came along and there just weren't any Halloween parties for a while. Then I wanted to save money, so I started just buying candy to have to distribute...Except that in the many years I've lived here now, I've never once seen a trick-or-treater interact with my building. I'm not sure I've seen any around here, period. So I stopped buying the candy and now Halloween just passes by like any other day (I will probably watch a horror movie or scary show, but I do those things all of the time so they are not strictly Halloween activities for me).

I know this is a very common pick, but I always was impressed by the Tim Burton movies. What do you mean these were made with stop motion? Haha.. I'm a little anxious, a little busy.. I don't think I should join if you guys do organize a movie night. But I definitely do wish all of you a lot of fun, be it with or without company.

Halloween is my favorite holiday. Been totally void of ambition so it's passing me by this year. Normally I deck out the yard, got smoke machine, etc. When the kid was little we had the house done up so after they got their candy they'd come here for food and kid time, parents really liked that we did it. We are centrally located in a residential area so lots of houses, street lights, etc. As a kid we'd dress up and all that, back before they moved trick-treat to a sunday at noon. Here they do night time! Our spooky stuff is pretty kid friendly since we have lots of little kids so no good scares for teenagers set up. We also get a lot of drive-by's (people not from the town but trucked in to get goodies) and hand out to everyone. The last 20 years though Halloween movies broadcast have been pretty crappy.

My favorite holiday. Don't have anyone to celebrate with, so i'll be alone. Used to love dressing up, but it's kind of pointless unless you're going somewhere. I'll be in my dorm binging horror films. I'm a huge horror fanatic, so at least I have that.

Yeah that was an issue if mine too. Even if my health hadn't tanked, I probably only would have gone to this Halloween costume contest + event semi-near me. Even though it would be mostly kids, adults do enter sometimes.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, but I haven't been able to celebrate it for the past couple of years due to a bunch of shit. This year it's cuz I'm working, my punk ass job put up a sign saying "We'll be open from 11AM to 10PM, have a spooky halloween :)" Imma probably end up getting crossed after I get off work and watching Over The Garden Wall or the Scary Movie series.

Fuck it. Time for a group project! I'ma look real stupid if no one pitches in, but hey. It's fun!

Build a Halloween Party!
The rules are simple: Either draw yourself, or what you're bringing to the party!

It can be any style, even sketchy or "amateur" stick figure doodles (I do not care whatsoever if you're a "good artist," it'll add to the overall charm so just let loose).

The only real rule is NO AI!
Do not use Artificial Intelligence for your art. Don't put this artwork through AI. We will know if you do. We can tell.

Just doodle some stick figures like every other beginner artist or non-artist. No judgment here, so no need for AI!

The room is made from edited free-to-use assets from IbisPaintX, aside from the window and cat, which are both my art (except for the glass texture). If you want to see a better view of the window and cat, I'll post both pieces on my profile! (Update, posted)

If you can't download the image for some reason, tell me, I'll see what's wrong.
If you don't have an app that can draw (IbisPaintX, Google Photos, anything else) send a picture of your art doodled on some paper, I'll scan the lines and put it in the room where you want it!

1000052491

I brought a black cat! He's kinda scared of the lightning, though... maybe someone should sit with him to make him feel better? (Yes this is a childish game have a little whimsy dammit)

was hoping to go out and at least walk around to soak up the ambience, but my body has decided to render that a non-option as if the ridiculous gale-force winds weren't enough of a deterrent. woo. poor kids...

can i contribute a non-ai thing i steal from the internet? very little creative capacity rn but i like this.
