I don't care if suicide is a sin. Why is it that every time I need comfort or reassure from someone I'm always reminded that suicide is a "sin" do you think I'll care about that? no, I've tried to commit suicide for the seventh time many years ago since I was 11.

believe me, I don't care whether I go to hell or heaven. You want me to care about my own life? You guys don't even care about my life, talking some bullshits about awareness when the only advice you gave me is for me to burn in hell for enternity if i ever kill my self, they say that life is something precious and we shouldn't throw it away, that's just stupid and foolish people. I hate everyone I hope you feel what I feel.

Hello!

Everyone just has own views on the world, own system of copings and etc. It is based on their environment (their childhood, how they were taught, what things did they see, did they suffer and etc.) and genetics.

When someone says things like that, it just does show that they try to change your mind by methods, that could change their mind first of all.

If they don't believe in therapy, they will not advice therapy with high probability.
If they believe that repentance before some god can help - they will advice repentance.

People in most of the cases try to help with their own ways, but it doesn't mean that it will match with yours

Killing or raping is a sin. God knows why we commit suicide. His love is unconditional. He might be sad that we don't like our current live but it's not a sin.

I don't think that suicide is a sin if a person driven to do it out of desperation. Suicide is only a sin if it's done to avoid justice (murder-suicide for example) or to hurt someone intentionally.

This is how I look at suicide, regarding if it's a sin or not.

I've always hated the tyrant god of the mainstream religions. I've rejected him since I was a child, and still stand by it.
Your life belongs to you alone, and no one has a right to force you to live it. Actually it's much the same as murder - murder means forcing someone to die, but forcing someone to live is just as bad, because either way interferes with your freedom.

I am into new-age spiritualism while also maintaining my Christian fate, and I strongly believe that God is nothing like the churches paint him to be. God is full of love, kindness and compassion. God has an understanding for the suffering and tormented souls.

when someone says suicide is sin, they're implying that there exists some quality about suicide that is immoral, there isn't. suffering is essentially limitless until death and within human history, we've seen it reach far, people suffer horrifically. to say that every single suicide is "irrational, selfish, an emotional decision, etc." is extremely wishful.

"sin" here cannot be about the nature of the act but god's (possibly arbitrary) line drawing. a god that forces agents in a world of suffering to continue to suffer isn't a loving god.

If there's an afterlife it's God's judgement

I don't know how there can be an afterlife at this point. This world is horrific.

So, in most cases, i didn't have enough si to stop me from attempting it
Unfortunately, i didn't have the right info which is why I'm still alive

Suicide is a sin, but sinning should still be the choice of the adult. I'm Muslim and I know how morality police create oppression and resentment. Giving people choices lets people make the "wrong" choices, yes, but it also prevents the resentment and rebellion that comes from forcing someone to conform to your own morality. That's why we should let people speak about suicide openly without locking them up. Nonjudgmental comfort and understanding ironically saves more lives than forceful psych hospital imprisonment and moral shaming.

There may be a lot of different gods, I believe there can't be only one. One of the Ten Commandments says that you must not worship any other gods besides him - logically that means that other gods exist, otherwise this commandment wouldn't be needed.

Well, depends. Most would interpret this as not worshipping money or power or anything else more than God. So God being the primary relationship in someone's life.

You know dear bro.. be it islam or any other religion, every religion is fake.
They are just medium to control the masses. I know you are Muslim so you may have strong sentiments for islam, so i don't want to affect that. I respect your religious sentiments in every way.
However yes all these religions, they don't understand us depressed people who wanna ctb. They create stories that we will end up as ghosts in the earthly realm. And blah blah blah.
I really don't get this thing. If someone wants to live, we don't interfere with their life, when we want to die, why do these ppl interfere with our lives.

Again, this is being said with all due respect to your religious beliefs.

I feel like people who say "suicide is a sin" only cause further harm, and they're often unwilling to acknowledge that. they don't care about the underlying reasons why someone wants to die, they just say a bunch of bullshit.

Maniac rambling: Bible was created to control masses and slavey is the motivation of every main religion. Hell was created to cause fear and heaven to be a reward for obidience. Those who control collect resources from the enslaved masses causing poverty. In poverty people tend to suffer and *suprise* might even want to die. Rich need their workforce alive and obidient, not killing themselves (you go to hell if you commit a suicide) or enjoying life (work hard and you each paradise).

I think it expressly says "no other gods," not any other things like wealth or power.
Regardless, I'd find it implausible that there would be only one god, what should make this one any more real than other gods? Of course, it's a matter of definition what a god even is. I find it more consistent when people don't believe in any god at all than in only one.

I wasn't aware of this, but Suicide became officially associated with sin in the 5th century AD through the writings of St. Augustine, and the stance was made into formal church policy during regional councils in the 6th century AD. Then in the 13th century is was made even more formal by Thomas Aquinas.
Early Christians did not always view self-chosen death as a sin.
Some early believers actively sought martyrdom or ended their lives to avoid Roman persecution or suffering.

There are many passages in Isaiah where God is more explicit in stating there are no other gods. Plus recall people would worship things like idols as gods. Jesus also speaks about there being only one God.
Not trying to argue but just saying Christianity is clear on this.

They aren't God. There isn't life after death. Why would it be life after it only for us?

I don't think you will see a dinosaur soul or a rabbit soul over there.
After that, we close the window and the theater is closed.

Right, sure he would say that, which doesn't mean it's true. There are tons of inconsistencies in the bible anyway. For instance, it was claimed somewhere that "God cannot lie." But elsewhere it's claimed that God is almighty. Now, I'm a mere mortal but I'm totally capable of lying if I want to, but some "almighty" god is not? That's ludicrous.

@fitoo5999 I absolutely do believe in the afterlife, and of course for all living beings, including my family who were nutrias. What would be the purpose otherwise?
But I've never understood why a god would be required for it.
I believe that consciousness is fundamental, as it's the only thing that could plausibly be its own cause and origin. This world is far too complex to have come about by mere chance, and you always require some "initial conditions" to have caused e.g. the Big Bang - then what caused those initial conditions?
That's not really any better than saying "God created it," which can always raise the question, then who created God?
Whether it's God or "initial conditions", you're always left with some sort of inexplicable miracle.
But moreover, I find it very implausible to believe that this body I'm trapped in is my only kind of existence, I've always been longing to be finally free one day, and that my own prison would be "all that I am" makes no sense to me. I'm not my own prison.

at this point I have zero fear of hell , why would a merciful god punish someone for eternity for a finite crime and what is even the crime , that I didn't believe in him , I'm just not convinced, the reason I haven't ctb is because of fear of pain.

Well this in the Human condition to always find a purpose other wise he would give up. Specially in the hard time.
They aren't meaning to anything. No even the pain we endure.
