Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

people die from OD'ing every single day, and they aren't even trying.
so why is it discouraged as a method here?

a lot of those people are life-time users of drugs, yet they can still die from drugs.
so imagine someone who ONLY (hypothetically) wanted to utilize it for suicide and never ever tried drugs before

For one, because I think it's easy to do by accident but not on purpose.

When someone dies by OD, they are not usually trying to die. A lot of times its a case of someone who had a high tolerance taking large amounts of drugs to compensate for the high tolerance, so their bodies are already weak from long term drug use and its more of a straw that broke the camels back situation.

Most prescription drugs that can cause death from an overdose, have one or more of several problems as a method. For some, you would have to take such a large amount of them that when people attempt to OD, their body rejects it before a lethal level of the drug is absorbed. For others, like prescription opiates, the lethal amount varies depending on the person and other factors. Mixing different medications can make them more lethal but it also introduces more unpredictability, and more likely that you'll just puke it all up even with AEs. They're just very inconsistent.

ODs are inconsistent and pretty unreliable. And a lot of the times there's a lot of suffering involved, especially if your body has an unexpected reaction to the medication. Then there's the problem of access too as you might end up with drugs laced with other stuff that may complicate things. Also a lot of medications these days have a treatment like opioids have narcan so higher chance of survival. This is how I understand it anyway.

Most overdoses are because of fentanyl. You dont know how much is in them until you've already taken. You could take 1 pill and ctb or you could take the whole bottle and still be alive. It's too unpredictable

There are so many people even unlikely causes of death happen everywhere.

Being rich probably doesn't limit your access either.

An irl friend of mine had a failed attempt on OD and suffered from health problems for a while, me too I had a failed OD attempt and suffered horribly before eventually going to the doctor, just like others said, most of the time deaths by OD aren't on purpose, it may sound easy but if you actually tried it, it's very painful and have a higher chance to fail

It varies. I am a recovered junkie. I have overdosed off fentanyl when I use to smoke it and needed narcan numerous times.

I have tried to od pills with only one attempt landing my a comatosed state. Still. Not dead.

But if I hadn't been found when I had in the fentanyl situations. Id be gone.

Fucking bastards.

an od can actually work, and i say this because i've experienced it myself, but it would still be my absolute last resort if sn were to fail for some reason.

You also have to remember that we only here about the "successful" ODs. For each celeb that dies via OD, there could be 100 failed ODs no one ever knows about. Even around the forum here there are many mentions of failed OD attempts. You have to step back and look at the numbers as a whole, not just cases pointed out in the media.

An od Can work it just cannot be random and it has to be planned and you need pretty heavy things all combined to ensure a better outcome, you can't OD on random pills and some alcohol in most cases sadly, I know that @purebliss and @hdead do a lot of research into ODs and have more info on it than I do, if you wish to look into that method I'd recommend checking that out
