The dude killed himself. "Normie depression" is not finding a Tinder date and eating a tub of Ben&Jerry's.

___
I love this part, "Based on my experience with Steve, I believe his mind was so tortured and he was in so much mental pain, he was not thinking rationally when he took his own life."

Despite the fact he'd apparently described why in a perfectly coherent way. Yeah, don't ascribe Steve any fucking agency or anything, just pretend what he told you was temporary insanity.

Killing yourself due to temporary depression is the normie way of doing things. Not saying it's inferior to my own style of suicidality, just pointing out that long-term suicidals don't get covered by the article.

Normie has negative connotation since everybody wants to be unique.

Fair but I didn't see anywhere in the article where it indicated his depression was temporary, he could have been feeling that way for years.

We don't get to know enough about poor Steve because the author just fucking goes on about themselves and their perspective. It's like the guy could have necked pills infront of this author and the author thought, "hmm how do i make this about me tho"

The guy had the stock "I'm a burden"-depression tho.

I have that too. It tends to be a component, not the entirety.

I'd say mine mainly stems from nihilism and misanthropy and a hatred for the system in which we must operate.

My apologies. I lost myself for a minute there hoping to bring a smile to you all. Should have known you all would rip it to shreds and make it dark. I will stop posting positive articles and just focus on darkness from now on.

Yes, of course if someone is suffering in a similar way themselves, they will be able to understand what the person who ctb went through. Most people who say 'suicide is selfish' are likely not suicidal themselves so they would never be able to comprehend what it is like. However the article does imply that his suicide was an irrational decision. I do not agree with that, as one can come to the conclusion that life is not worth living. It can be perfectly rational not wanting to suffer for decades. At least in my case, suicide is the only thing that makes sense.
Thanks for sharing the article.

I see that they mean well and I like their central message. However, I don't like their assumption that their deceased friend "was not thinking rationally." People just say this without knowing what it even means, and it's used as an excuse to force 'treatment' upon the suicidal.

Lol it doesn't matter what type of fucking depression or motive leads to suicide. In the end you intentional destroy your orgasm and turn to dust, the why is irrelevant. We are all just flesh.

Had high hopes but then I read "he indicated that he felt he was a burden to those who loved him". So if one doesn't believe they are a burden and/or are doing it for themselves does it then become "selfish" in a distinguishable way to every other single thing humans do for their own benefit? @GenesAndEnvironment is right in that it is the same and only type of reason to ctb that society allows conversations around.
