Long time lurker first time poster.

I have come across a source which states that it is 99% tech grade and it comes from a fishing and bait store. It's marketed as a product to cure salmon eggs. I called them and they confirmed that it is 99% pure.

I purchased it (Canada ) from the US and it got through customs fine.

My issue is that there is no expiration date on it.

It's 32 Oz not air tight sealed and it's a pure white salt like powder. No hint of yellow and no "caking" or clumping it's perfectly dry. This is not what I've seen in other SN products on the internet. The company seems quite reputable and they have many other fishing related products.

I tried the blood test and it certainly darkened my blood but not to chocolate brown it seems. The Color resembles more of a red velvet cake if that makes sense.

Has anyone come across this company before? Any thoughts related to my blood test, the consistency of the product, or the lack of vacuum sealing?

Thanks!

This seems like an instance where doing the aquarium test (to get an idea of nitrite level) would be a very good idea. You can use the search function to find explanations.

I'm considering doing this. Just wondering if anyone else has come across this product. It also came up on Amazon but I bought directly from their website.

I know the one you are talking about, and it has been mentioned before, but I don't know whether anyone used it successfully or tested it. Hopefully someone will manage to answer (and without revealing the source).

I would also be very interested to know how reliable this product is, as I obtained some recently to make egg sacs for steelhead fishing. Definitely not a chemist and an aquarium test is beyond my current means.

It is against the rules to post pictures that identify sources.
I meant just the SN not where its from or anything. With OP stating it didn't look like others had reported
