I don't think there a scams, but rather mislabeling. Shouldn't be an issue if you buy from a good company. Also, the main issue is we are killing ourselves with it, so it's a bigger issue of its nitrite or nitrate.

I don't know of any scams. I'd imagine not common. It's legal, cheap, and wouldn't be worth anyone's time to bother scamming with.

SN is relatively inexpensive, no profit to make it worthwhile as a scam .
Occasionally we see people purchasing Nitrate instead of Nitrite which comes down to mis -reading the labels .

It's almost always user error. There are people who accidentally purchase curing salt, which is a little SN in a lot of salt, or nitrate instead of nitrite.

People don't read the labels properly, some listings for SN only contain 0.6% Sodium Nitrite but 99.4% Sodium Chloride, so it's mostly common salt.Similar threads
