What kind of failures can happen with SN? Like expired, too old? Too low a dose? Didn't take anti-emetic? Counterfeit SN - here in India, this is common, you get nitrate for nitrite. What verified stories do you guys know? Anyone end up worse than before, like stroke, paralysis, vegetative? I kind of think I have a bad batch but with the country in world's biggest lockdown, can't re-purchase any time quick. So I gotta take a shot at it. So want to know what things worse than CTB can happen. (If anyone in India know reliable sources who can deliver even now- PM me...)

have done that already. note that those don't cover directly known experiences, first or second hand, which is what i'm asking about. not generic stuff but exact stuff. what have you yourself seen or heard? particularly with respect to the vagaries in india of SN supply and lockdown.Two types of SN testing- blood and aquarium strips. Blood test is putting a few drops of blood on it and I believe it should turn far brown.

Sorry but I live in a different part of the world so cannot answer your other questions. Hope that helps.Yes, I've read the SN resource threads. SN is not used in the Indian meat packing industry. Very little meat is frozen. Most meat is goat or chicken freshly butchered by the neighborhood butcher. And the aquarium test strips - expensive in india - can't be bought during lockdown - which will go into June in the big cities where the kits are sold. Online too is blocked till lockdown ends. So looking for different known failures people have experienced...@raybd
1) if you have nitrate nothing will happen to you accept maybe some dehydration
2) if you have nitrite, and you take 25g in 50ml water and are not rescued, you will die.
3) it sounds like you're in a area where the antidote (methyl blue) may not be available, so even if you are found, may not be able to save you.
4) if they do have methyl blue and you are saved you should recover ok.

Yes to all those! Except with no anti-emetic, you'll probably still be "successful".
I personally have yet to read about anyone left with any health issues after an SN attempt. That's partially why it's a great method.Last edited:Similar threads
