Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

It's 3am here and I can't sleep. I've been reading about Myanmar and browsing r/UrbanHell... And damn, I feel like garbage because I still want to kill myself. I'm not going through anything like what other people around the world have to live through - how dare I feel like I'm suffering at all.

An interesting thing to keep in mind - human "happiness" has remained pretty constant over time, regardless of development.
Of course economic development led to less painful and longer lives, but your feelings are pretty valid.

I used to tell myself during depressive episodes that there are people who are in much worse situations than I am, but it didn't really help. Suffering is subjective and it's as simple as that. If you suffer, you suffer.

Interesting. Why do you think that is? I would have thought people were happier in the past than they are today.

Sorry, this was kind of a silly post lol. You're right.

Seeing that I don't have it as bad as some does give me perspective in the sense that I'm more grateful for what I have, but on the other side of it there are certain conditions I just -can't- live in. I don't feel bad about that either. Quality of life is an important aspect of being being alive.

Maybe because we're the only being which always wants to improve.
And when you improve, you get bored, so you want to improve again.
Of course here the term "improving" is not only economic, but also spiritual, artistic, agricultural, etc.

But you're not wrong in very particular cases, for example we could say the Internet with less social interactions, social networks, pornography, contributed to fucking up the mental health of the last generations.

Not to mention the ongoing nihilism which is clearly detrimental to mental health in some societies.
