This bothers the shit out of me all the damn time.

Whether Democrat or Republican... each side tends to spend a LOT of time criticizing other on how they look, perceived ugliness, if they've had "work" done, whether they are fat, whether they are "getting laid" or not, etc... and way less time criticizing their actual words or actions. And this is definitely a BOTH SIDES situation. Ironically, each side knows it is wrong, because when it is done to them they protest about how it's unfair and petty... right before they launch into their version.

Look, I dislike Trump too... but the more people talk about him being fat, or his crazy comb-over situation, or how he probably has a tiny dick... all you do is make me feel sorry for him... and I DO NOT want to feel sorry for a person I think is a horrible human being who encourages horrible behavior in others and is responsible for some dumb and horrible policies. Can we please criticize just his actions and words and bad policy and such? I mean, if/when he commits a crime... sure, talk about that too... but I don't care if he gets laid, or has a small dick, or is fat, or his hair looks stupid, or he has a wife that doesn't love him and is only with him for money and power/fame. Hell, you're going to make me sympathize with a guy who maybe can't get laid except for his wealth and knows his wife only is with him for money and feels like shit all the time so he tries to do things that he thinks will please her without regard to whether it hurts other people or not... and I don't want to think about that... I want to focus on the bad shit he keeps being a part of enacting!

And just for equality sake... same goes for Nancy Pelosi. Look, people will shit on me for this too... but young Pelosi was pretty. I said it. I'm not saying she isn't now, for her age... but I am saying I don't give a shit. Young Pelosi might have been pretty but her policies still stink. She is horrible... but her "side" has to love her unconditionally, just like all the Republicans have to love Trump right now... and whether or not I want to fuck someone, or think I could fuck someone, or hell IF they actually showed up and fucked me so silly that I was happy for a month... if their policies still suck ass (and not in the good way) then I don't give two shits whether they are pretty or not. Fuck all that noise.

Oh... and here's a thing. There's a lot of discussion on this very forum about whether or not sex is "needed"... Lots on here talk about how we overrate importance of sex, and it shouldn't be a thing you get depressed over, it isn't the best thing ever, nobody really needs it... etc. etc. Okay... so then why is it the "go to" thing whenever someone (man or woman) says/does something you don't like... "they need to get laid." Wait... I thought sex wasn't a need? Which is it? Nobody needs sex, or if you don't get sex you say and do horrible things that could be avoided if you just had more sex? Pick a lane with your criticizing people!

Bottom line. People in power do and say more than enough things to be critical of them for saying and doing... there really should be no place for talking about how they look, whether or not you want to fuck them, whether anyone wants to fuck them, etc.

It's deeply concerning in this arena. We absolutely should be more concerned about how their policies affect our countries/ lives. But then, people are depressingly shallow.

I'll openly admit that I hate politics. I don't trust politicians in general and all their bickering irritates me- UK politics in particular where all they seem to do is criticize one another.

But yeah, I'm very naive politically. I remember a woman commenting on it once- arguing that people should be tested before they are allowed to vote- to ensure they know what they are voting for. She pointed out that her Mum voted for Tony Blair because he 'had a nice smile'.

Regarding Trump. I can't say I'm a fan. I do get where you are coming from though. On the other hand though, he seems resistant to being challenged over his views. He's so sure that he's right. I've heard the rumour that he hates being laughed at and ridiculed though so- I suppose I hope that that's a way in. That somewhere in his mind, he realises that the reason people attack his appearance/ personality is because they hate what he's doing.

It's also that any innocent person can have those features, so to attack other for such things just further normalizes attacking anyone for their features that they can't control. Appearances aren't something we can control, and yet this world is so obsessed with it. Who cares? Isn't it your actions and your brain that should matter? Those are the things that actually make a person, not the physical vessel that they never chose. I don't give a single shit about Trump he can trip on balls and sit on a sharp dick, I'm more concerned over how this will affect others who are good people but might share features with trump like being fat.

I don't care about gossip. And I am pretty sure people in power neither. It is a distraction of what really counts. And if you take part of such personalized criticism you Do them a favor. It distracts from policies. I don't feel sorry for public persons who have to deal with gossip. Why should I? It is irrelevant for them. Celebs also have to deal with it. That's part of human nature. I don't let such talks influence my takes on policies.

Admittedly, sometimes I do jokes about politicians but I think that's more of a side note.

The distraction keeps people from meaningful conversations... the distraction keeps people from solving problems.

I mean, the current policies are largely horrible... IF Trump were handsome and had a big dick, his policies would still be awful. But then, in the real world we see handsome and pretty people get away with shit that others have a more difficult time... except in politics where it sometimes doesn't matter what you look like if you know the right people you can get shit done.

I just wish people put as much time into actually fighting opposition and challenging bad policies and generating good policy alternatives as they do insulting people for being unattractive or not getting laid or thinking of a cute acronym or sign for their protest.

When I was in college, for instance... many years ago... we had a train track that ran through the center of campus. It was elevated, and there was a concrete wall, and there were only a couple of crossover points and those had stairs. IF you were in a wheelchair or otherwise couldn't safely use the stairs, you had to go all the way up to where the train and walking areas leveled out for a bit to cross over to the other side of campus. They really needed those other crossover points to have ramps for wheelchair and other access.

The University dragged its feet over that... so a bunch of students decided to protest. They had a cute acronym that I forget now, and then mostly what they did was just get together and protest by blocking (or attempting to do so) access to the tunnels for all able-bodied people. It did absolutely nothing to help get wheelchair access to those tunnels and just pissed off a lot of people who otherwise could have been allies by making them late to classes without having any excuse.

I'm not saying I had the right answer to fix the problem of a University being neglectful of its students, happily cashing their tuition checks and actively making it harder for those students to get to their classes... but I could easily identify that the students making the protests weren't interested in solving the problem as much as they were being praised for their "clever" t-shirts and signs and by skipping their classes so they could appear to care and be on TV and stuff. Literally none of them were actually talking to the University or putting pressure via local news outlets or even something as simple as getting a petition signed by all students... like, instead of just blocking tunnel access they could have been asking people to sign a petition when they crossed, which would only take a couple of seconds and using that support. OR a creative idea might have been instead of just blocking tunnel access, encourage everyone to refuse to use those access and go the way only everyone could go... then everyone would be late for classes perpetually and the professors would be motivated to join in as well.

But no, people are more interested in getting attention and seeming like they are doing something than actually doing something... which is why we get the "Trump has a small dick" and whatshisface "can't get laid" and "she's ugly and her cosmetic surgery is ugly too" rants and then they say "gotcha!" as if they have accomplished something... meanwhile, small or large dick, ugly or not, sex or not, the selfish politicians keep fucking things up because they can.
