You can reject them.

Sidebar: But if you are trying to apply for government aid and refuse meds they will immediately deny you. You will be considered noncompliant thus not eligible because you are rejecting meds that could help you.

It depends what your problem is. But yes a psychiatrist is going to out you on meds. You need to see a really good therapist though who can give you tools to deal with your personal problem.
