In this thread, we talk about our pets and how great they are. Pictures are encouraged but not mandatory (and remember the always-threatening reverse image search!)

I'll start. I have a toy poodle x bichon frise. When I get home from being out anywhere he gets so excited to see me that he spins in circles. A lot of days he is the only living thing I interact with. Sometimes I get resentful that I feel like I have to stay alive because I don't trust anyone to love him enough when I am gone, but that's not his fault. I adore him more than I can describe

My parent's dog died in the vets last year. His stomach twisted and they performed surgery, but left him overnight. He bled out in the night. He was a greyhound and the most sweetest dog I've ever known. A complete couch potato until he did his daily zoomies around the backyard. Miss him so much.

That breaks my heart - that he was at the vet and things were supposed to be getting better. Greyhounds are so sweet. No interesting in moving except for an occasional Olympic sprint

This is Yumi, my dad's girlfriend's dog. She's an itty bitty shihpoo. I am in love with her. She seriously gives me joy. I can't say that for much these days. And yet I expect any day to be my last day with her on account of my dad and his girlfriend breaking up. She is just pure love. Her whole MO is love, food (she will bite your fingers off when you give her a treat, then she'll INHALE it because she has no concept of chewing, then she'll choke on it, then she'll snag the treat you're trying to give the other dog wwwhhhhiiillleeee she's choking on the first one!), and boys. She loves boys! She is very "come get it" at the dog park!

I have 3 dogs. I'd love to share a picture but I'm paranoid. They are my everything. My baby boy is a sweetheart and knows when I'm sad. He will come over and try and comfort me as best he can. He was abused when we rescued him, so he doesn't like strangers AT ALL, so everyone assumes he's this aggressive dog. All our dogs are rescues. I'm going to be crushed when their time comes. Our pets are better than most people.

My two cats ... I agreed to take them in temporarily, and in August it'll be eight years. I know they'll be in loving hands when I'm gone. Life without them would be a mistake.

Maybe you could adopt a dog like Yumi from an animal shelter? Taking care of an animal and receiving love from them can be a great way to improve your mood. My cat was always there for me, as if he could feel when I was down. I wish he never passed.

After the grooming a few days ago, his eyelashes look so long since there's no more hair covering his eyes

I dont own a cat but I would like to own one like this. Ginger cats are always friendly somehow. I got to work in an animal shelter for a week and I got to see lots of cats but ginger ones I have to say are the best ones and I hope if I'm alive in the future to own one.

Thank you! He's a Mini Goldendoodle :D His hair is lovely as it is now but the Poodle breed has a graying gene so often times the coat gets lighter when they're adults. The texture can change too. Like from wavy to curly, etc. We're hoping he doesn't change too much in that regard.

I know you're trying to be supportive but just no. I can't just buy another Yumi. Yumi is Yumi. There's no other Yumi. Every dog has their own unique personality. She's not a thing anyone can get at Walmart.
Woke up to them fighting this morning and the girlfriend was calling Yumi to get her suited up to leave. And she didn't want to go. She looked up at me with her expressive, wanting eyes and glued herself to me. The day she's gone for good will be a very dark day. I.....knew I should have kept my distance from the start.....I let my guard down after awhile and now I'm in love with her and I'm going to lose her.

I'm so sorry, To hear of your situation with yumi!
I had a questionable male character in my life who brought a puppy..
Used it a lot to hurt me by taking her away.
Totally heartbroken & I don't go to see her now because I can't keep her.
I hope there's a way things fall into place with best intentions for you.

(new friend that no one could take away)
I Hope a new friend comes your way if not your able to care for yumi.

This is my first time posting,
I only have a small little mouse but just he makes me so happy & laugh at the silly things he does.
Having him completely distracts and I like the responsibility of taking care of something other then myself.

Sorry if anyone's afraid of mice. He's really quite cute with his little round ear.

This is Marley, the cairn terrier. I got her in January 2014, roughly a year after I underwent a major depressive cycle. I am estranged from most of my family, have few friends, and I live hundreds of miles away from them. I thought that a dog would be a good company-keeper and force me to interact with the outside world. Most importantly, I had a lot of love but no one to give it to.



Marley was eighteen months old when I got her from the breeder. Unlike most cairns, she is very quiet and submissive, likely due to being the runt of her litter. Despite her quiet demeanor, she is not a cuddle-bug - which suits me, because I am not warm and fuzzy.

Marley has had a front row seat to the worst manifestations of my depression. I have suffered from depression since i was a teenager. I was able to manage with drugs and CBT until I hit my mid 30s, when I experienced my first MDE. While I was lost in the fog of my depression, my devotion to her is what helped me to continue on. Despite my depression, She still had to be walked, fed, taken outside, and played with. After all, it is just her and me — there is no one here to attend to her when I wanna hide from the world.

What I get back from her is immeasurable. When I am down, she snuggles next to me in order to cheer me up. When I stay in bed overlong, she tries to pull the covers off my face.

Right now, she is the only thread that keeps me connected to the world; if something happens to her, I would be gone almost immediately.

I feel the exact same way. Marley is beautiful. I love how they can read the mood. Twisty lays across my chest and neck when I'm low or crying. They just know what to do intuitively. Pets are amazing.

The love of my life.
She was being kept to guard grow rooms and the powerful lights running 24/7 really messed her up.
I never went anywhere without her and she became my shadow.

I was really depressed this day. Intermittently crying and trying to figure out if I could organise to CTB sooner rather than later and speed up my plan

And this face - this little adorable face - kept peering over my blanket that I was huddled in with that facial expression. Genuine concern. 'Why is mummy crying? Don't cry mummy.'
