Reasons for less traffic in this forum

I've got the notion that there is way less traffic in this forum. I wonder why? Have they found happiness, peace or do they find this forum annoying? Reasons might be the good weather, the break/end of the covid pandemic. Many people say they are annoyed by the trolls and how this forum has changed over the years.

How has it changed? Also are the trolls not identified and banned straight away? I would think there would be no tolerance for trolls on this forum.

I think it may be just with the end of the pandemic people are back at work and there's less time to discreetly access the forum

I think it's like the weather, it changes all the time. (unless you are in the uk and it always rains)

could be recovery, could be ctb, could be people have moved on for other reasons. The list is endless really. I think it's the nicest though when it's because people are in better places, ie without having to ctb.

I read this a lot from people who were part of this forum that is has strongly changed. Not sure how.
Some suspect people who ask silly can I kill myself with this or that as trolls. With methods which are obviously not efficient. It's not my opinion I just read it a lot.

I also noticed many people are in recovery, and they already left the forum... I'm happy for them, but it made me feel more lonely and abandoned. Wish everyone a happy life though.

- Some members have CTBed in these months, from Feb 2021 till now.
- Some members have left due to recovery.
- Search Engine like Google has censored this forum heavily, leading to less people can find it compared to the past.
There're also complaints about long waiting approval process.

Since SS got into the news, people feel a little bit threatened/even exposed… (so obviously there are parents and journalists navigating here too)...

Also the site got access blocked in some places… the pro life movements

I am ok with all this.

For me, I was a lot active at the beginning because it was new.
Now, I see that the same threads come and go and I am less active because I already have the info I need.
I just come to see how you are doing and react to some posts.

Yeah, there seems to be more "masked pro-lifers" and maybe straight up trolls posting about ridiculous methods or trying to discourage people from using the effective ones. Also very subtle guilt tripping - "but, muh parents will be devastated uh, oh!". Fucks sake...

I feel like being here is kinda counter-productive after a certain point, all you see is the same topics popping up. Most people probably just research their method and leave.

while its possible that some of them are prolifers trying to guilt trip, im sure there is also some people that this does bother and greatly effects them.

I agree with reasons that people have said above. Personally I haven't noticed this though. I think many people don't stay on this forum for long, and they use it to get what they need (method information for example), there has been many ctb recently as well, I have seen lots of goodbye threads. Also the media probably plays a role too.

When I first joined there did seem to be more activity. There were more "regular" users present at the time; it tended to be the same group of people who would stay around for quite a while; they built both a reputation for themselves and also connections to others within this community. Since then much time has passed and most of these users have left for one reason or another. In the present this is not the case anymore. Instead of having a few regular or well-known users who were closely-knit, like in the past, there are now more less-than-regular users who sign-up and do not stay for long. They either leave after receiving what they came for, or they simply go inactive.

The atmosphere of this forum has changed, it is much more impersonal than before (in my opinion), and it could be the reason why it seems that there is less traffic on Sanctioned Suicide than there actually is. New users join frequently, maybe even more than before, but there is also less social interaction than in the previous era. This post is not a criticism of anyone just an observation; everyone is allowed to leave when the please.

Who knows... assuming that Sanctioned Suicide continues to exist years from now there may be a new set of users in a new period (post-2021) who will grow to become the future "regulars." People similar to the late @GoodPersonEffed or @Lorntroubles - for example. Eventually they will leave, and then everybody will ask: "Man. Why is this forum changing? Where is everyone going?" just like we are asking now.

It is simply the cycle of this community...

I remember when I used to just type in sanctioned suicide into the search bar and this would come right up (after the mandatory suicide hotline of course)

Probably down to the trolls, people probably 'lurk' more than outright post.They just look for the information they want rather than bother posting on the many BS threads, that either mock members or are made to scare people.

idk I think lockdown is lifting so people are way more busier, they work, can meet people and go out again so there's that and I guess there will be many who simply found this place because the pandemic brought them over the edge, but once it's over, they are better again

My issue with the forum is that I kinda got bored. I've been active here for a couple of weeks during January-February but it's kinda SUUUUUUUPER repetitive.

- spiritual question: do you believe in god/what happens after/how to find peace/is there only nothingness/....

- super generic question about suicide method that has been asked 100 times

Especially the generic questions got me, like someone posted a link of a rope from an online store which literally said: rope, 15mm, holds up to 2000kg/4400pounds; with the question: will the rope hold me? like literally, did you even read the title?

Or like what do you think of suicide by train and everybody answers: noo it's bad for the driver.

It's super predictable and the questions repeat themselves non-stop so I kinda got bored and I don't even lurk much, just log in every couple of months (like now) and leave after a bit lol :D

Alot of these repetitive posts you mention are made to poke fun at people. alot are fake accounts its pretty obvious, like you said in the post about the rope...stupid stuff , probably kids if you ask me(with clear issues of their own if thats what they do for fun!!!)

It's getting harder and harder to access the place to be honest (depending where you are). I've known about this site for quite some time generally, but it actually took me half a day of searching before I was able to find the URL. It's coming under fire from a few different directions and I suppose it has to take its toll.

Can i ask where its getting harder to access? even the people from Italy(where its supposedly banned ) are getting access easily!!!!

you are ireland based didn't you say? I'm UK and a search on google it comes out right at the top. i speak to a member from NI they don't seem to have a problem?

Ye I'm Ireland based. Doesn't show up at all on Google, Bing (yes that still exists lol) etc.. It'll only show on Duckduckgo or TOR (which just uses Duckduckgo I think). Odd that you have no issues in the UK because usually our policies on stuff like that, we just copy whatever the UK does. The Irish government doesn't have a brain of its own.

Suicide rates increase during the summer, so it's likely that many members have just killed themselves recently.

I haven't post a lot on here but with bipolar disorder I'm in and out. Some weeks or months I log in multiple times a day and some other times, when I'm some kind of artificially happy in my life I don't even think about SS.

People come and go I just hope everybody that left found peace in whatever happen to them.

while i dont have stats i can say that ive noticed it. when i first joined a year ago, you couldnt reload the page without several threads being commented on and now i can watch it sit for 30mins + sometimes before the site even gets touched, although its typically around 5-10mins. it is still down though.
