With NYTs (one sided) article bringing SS to the mainstream media, make no mistake that there will be an influx of predators coming to the website.

So as a cautionary reminder: keep identifying information about yourself minimal (city, state, hell even country if it's small enough, occupation). Be very wary of who you talk to on here and how much personal information you share. Use a VPN if you can. Use an email and username that isn't used for any other website.

The legality of it doesn't matter. It's about minimizing the risk of being doxxed and having unwanted folks contact you irl.
