Since learning how to do it (took me two weeks), I can now position the rope and compress my carotids on my first try, every time. I have gone about five seconds last try: immediately my hands and arms were severely limp, and I had tingling in the roof of my mouth and lips. It's a wonderful, natural vulnerability once you get the hang of it. An easy way to go (assuming SI is defeated).

Even with consciousness, if you lose function of your arms and hands in the last seconds, you'll be in the sleep paralysis of death. SI is strong with suspension. The only way to get around it is to close your eyes. There is no possible way to see everything go blurry and dark and not attempt to save yourself. The feeling in your head is also a sinister sensation of imminent death.

Also—I highly suspect it's from practicing suspension daily and occluding so much blood flow to the brain, but I now have paresthesia on my extremities. My nerves are inflamed and my blood pressure is damn high. Even though it's been half an hour since trying, I still feel the roof of my mouth swelling. I did go to the doctor to get it checked in the slight chance I don't CTB.

This should be exciting news. Having an accessible, lethal, and effective means of exit at any time. I'm no longer trapped. SI seems to go away after a couple of shots—or even just closing your eyes while compressing. Feeling a little better. Breathing a little deeper. I can leave whenever I want. I'll stick around for the finer things.

Be careful practicing. Paresthesia is can be caused by loss of blood flow to brain ( a stroke) or nerve damage in the neck. Which is what you are doing when practicing. I am glad to hear that you found the sweet spot but don't over practice. You may end up with permanent damage before you are ready to exit.
