People claiming suicide is the "easy way out"

This has probably been posted before, but nothing irritates me more than when people claim that suicide is "easy" and the "coward's way out". I don't need to point out what's so wrong with their ignorant thinking, because that would just be preaching to the choir, but it angers me to no end.
It's an utterly ignorant assumption that hasn't been thought through to its logical conclusion. Unfortunately the world we know is governed by such knee jerk assumptions and rulings.
There's been times I've felt very lucky to be alive in our time but I feel the very worst and very best of a society meet just before a very significant fallout. We're heading towards a serious crescendo I reckon.

I feel like people who say things like that have never researched suicide so they have no idea as to how difficult it really is. Suicide is very difficult as all humans are programmed to survive, methods can fail and the society makes suicide very hard as we are denied access to peaceful methods. People who say things like that should really not be listened to. I feel like if suicide was easier I would already be gone, and there is nothing actually wrong with suicide, it is a human right, none of us have any obligation to stay alive as we did not ask to exist. I simply do not want to suffer until old age for the sake of it.

Some people constantly battle against pain and bad things happening to them every day with no end, not everyone wants to deal with that. Not everyone is privileged enough to have support and resources to help them get through things. It's beyond ignorant.
Along with the fact that committing suicide is just not easy. It's the hardest decision anyone could make.
You can tell someone's never really been at the very bottom when they say stuff like this.
Yeah, this statement has always really upset and angered me. Along with the whole- suicides end up in hell or purgatory. Some of my relatives believe this and it's harder to shake off I think when you've heard it from childhood. I want to believe either there's nothing, or if there is a God, he/she/it would have enough compassion to forgive you.
I agree though- I don't think anyone who has seriously contemplated doing it can call it cowardly- it's terrifying. Every single stage- getting over the taboo and initial shock when it first occurs to you it may be your best option, sourcing the means to do it may be illegal, actually doing it carries all sorts of risks and possible pain and no one really knows what happens if you are successful. It has to be the biggest gamble there is!
The other one is 'suicides are selfish' and that- the pain you had to endure you merely pass on to everyone else. That one I do find especially tricky... I've experienced lots of death in my family (all natural causes) and it has been terribly painful. I just don't know how I would feel if any of those deaths had been self inflicted.
Having said that, many of my relatives really suffered near the end and it must have been a happy release for them to have passed. My Dad has also always said that 'if you truly love someone, you let them go because you don't want them to suffer anymore.' I think as hard as it is, this has to be applied to suicides- people do it because they simply can't cope with the amount of physical or mental pain they are in anymore.
It's the second hardest thing to do.
Without impulse, SI will win, it takes impulse to And my impulse keeps running dry because of my own reasons I sometimes wish didn't exist because I'm still here which I do not fancy, because as long as I'm still here, the pain of dreams and reality won't stop.
Sorry to sound so bizarre, its the only way I could put it into sensible words right now.

Takes balls to battle through your survival instinct and guilt while facing the unknown after death. Those who say that are just trying to encourage you to live with no regard to your suffering.
now that im faced with it, i cant stand that statement either. It is the hardest thing in the world to do. To overcome what you are designed to do- live

There's nothing easy about taking your own life. It might be one of the hardest things a person can set to achieve. In an acute sense, of course, as trying to endure a hard life is on aggregate tougher, but as something condensed or isolated, as an action, it takes balls.

for me personally, i would agree that i am a coward. as for suicide being easy im not sure. so many things could go wrong. this kind of argument however is similar to ad hominem attacks people normally use when they cant come up with a half decent argument.
ah yes attack the person making the argument instead of attacking the actual argument. how uncivilized
but i think deep down a lot of these people have yet to accept their own mortality so seeing cases of suicide may trigger that fear.

Judgements about a person's character is made due to the genetic interests of a group, and the individuals in the group. If someone is considered lazy or cowardly, then the group may want to (1) change the individual's behavior, (2) reduce their bio-sociological resources (punishment/deterrent/half-way to 3), (3) remove them from their (sub-groups relevant here) gene pool, etc.
So, these kinds of insults mean: (1) "We/I won't cooperatively see to your genetic interests.", (2) "You are not fulfilling your genetic interests, in case you didn't know.", (possible kin-selective altruistic instincts stemming from 3), (3) "You're not contributing to mine/our genetic survival. ", etc. These would then not be relevant if the goal is not to pursue the genetic interests in the first place.
Of course, that's just the theory. In reality, damage to genetic interests will often cause physical or emotional pain, no matter if we think we're above it or not. This ties into the strategy of using the higher cognitive functions to counteract/battle the instinctive-genetic generation of emotional pain. For me this works fairly reliably; if the body and brain is healthy, then the neocortex or whatever has more sway of what mental activity occurs. Furthermore, meditation practices involved in strengthening the neocortex/developing increased objectivity (sensation-based over instinct-based, or whatever) are effective for me.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking the easier paths in life.
With that being said, I consider suicide the easy way out in the majority of cases.
Just ask yourselves, Would it be easier to take the long road of recovery?
Would it be easier to live ~40 more years with all the issues that made you suicidal?
Would it be easier to cope with inescapable situations like illnesses or extreme trauma?
Suicide is a hard decision to make, and the execution of it requires a lot of "courage". But that doesn't make it any harder than living a horrible existence or dealing with life's issues. That takes far more strength, courage and determination.
Of course, I don't say this in a judgmental way. Everyone is free to evaluate their situation any way they want.
