WHY NO OLDER PEOPLE ON PARTNER THREAD, IDEAS?

The demographics of the site seem to run somewhat young on average, especially lately. As to why I can only speculate, but in a place such as this some of the unsure recover and leave, and some of the serious eventually achieve their goal. That doesn't lead to a lasting population at any age. In my time here both lurking and since I've seen many faces come and go.

As to the partner thread specifically, meeting someone from here in real life comes with many serious risks that can't be completely mitigated, as discussed by staff on page 1 of the thread. It's a comforting idea not to have to be alone, but it's difficult to screen out pro-life trolls, predators taking advantage of the vulnerable, and people who either aren't serious, will change their mind later, are are otherwise incompatible. After some mature thought, many reach the conclusion that it's a nice thought but not worth the price of admission.

I realize all of the above. Given that I think the trolls and degenerates are looking for young people in general. Older people tend to be totally alone, a mate gone, family not around, and with the advancing ravages of age, one might think they'd like to communicate, perhaps, share their particular problems, many times, having to do with health.
