I have tried to hang myself at night by tying a belt from a robe to a bar above my bedroom window. I make sure the belt is tight around my neck before going to bed. However, when I wake up, besides feeling a little pain and red marks, nothing really happened. The belt did not come lose. What am I doing wrong? Is there a specific location of the neck to tie belt to in order to ensure success?

Yes, pretty much followed this exactly, except for locating the carotid artery. No matter where I press my thumb while holding the back of the neck, it is impossible for me to black out.

I think I found my by tying my rope then moving it on my neck until I found it, remember you have you add quite a bit of pressure

Tried moving rope up above and below adam's apple. However, I can't find a single point where I will pass out within a minute or even fill dizzy, but after several minutes my head does feel a bit cold. There are points where I am almost unable to breathe so I don't think pressure is the issue. Just what am I doing wrong?

Well, so here's some things I was doing wrong.
  1. Use any rope/belt that cannot loosen, and cannot have free space. Even a bit. When the knot is tied around your neck, there should be pressure on every single part that the rope is covering. Without that, there's not going to be sufficient pressure.
  2. Make sure you're using a knot that doesn't loosen under pressure. Again, there needs to be pressure on the whole neck.
For some people, these aren't to be strictly followed (they succeed even with a scarf). For others. it might be difficult even with these precautions. We don't know what it's like for you.

Is there a good video of a partial suspension attempt? That would help a lot.
