Lately, I've been thinking a lot about wastefulness, specifically how my own suicide will be a waste of organs that could have gone to someone who needed them. I want to try and avoid that waste, so I'm looking into becoming a living organ donor to a stranger. The thought of helping to give someone who wants to and is fighting to live a chance at a healthy life makes me feel less bad about ending my own. And it might give me something to live for and keep myself healthy for until I can donate.

Has anyone thought about or taken steps to do this?

That is an awesome and selfless thing to do! Here is info. from organdonor.gov. Call the number and they should be able to help you.

Call the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) toll-free at 888-TXINFO1 (888-894-6361). Visit their site on Living Donation.

UNOS manages the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN).

I really like this idea. Here in Germany you can get a "Organ Donation ID" which is very easy to aquire and you can choose which organs you want to donate when you die.

Rich people pay for organs. So there may be an alternative to donating them.

My 1stpost ever on here was about this topic. Allowing euthinasia would dramatically shrink the underground organ market, less ppl kidnapped for their organs. I truly don't think that euthinasia is mostly illegal bc of compassion. Euthinasia could be seen as the ultimate sacrifice, honored. But ppl are just brainwashed that ppl are "committing" something wrong
